World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Ridiculous. Beer shouldn’t be this good. Read the other reviews for the taste etc. I’m just going to rave about it. So good you can’t have just one and you can’t handle much more than one. Simply wonderful.

Pours a dense opaque black with a 1/2" head that dissipates to a small cap, then foam at edges. Roasted malt predominant with fig and/or raisin to the nose. Taste is spectacular, roasted malt with some fruit notes. Alcohol very well hidden considering how high the ABV is. Marvelous mouthfeel, so smooth, full bodied and mouth coating. Drinkability is high despite the ABV. Just a wonderful experience to finally get my hands on a couple of these.

2007 bottle consumed on 1/31/09. WWS gets better with some age on it... it really mellows out a bit and becomes more dynamic... some nice dark fruits in the aroma and over the palate. full body, mainly on top of the mouth... long lasting finish with dark fruit, a touch of alcohol and some cherries. a true pleasure to experience. ’07 bottle. WWS is an intense beer. Not your typical Imp. Stout by far... doesn’t even compare to Imp. Stouts all that well... much more like a liquor. There is a lot of sweetness, alcohol and kahlua like liquor in this... Pours a deep dark thick black with no carbonation or head. Aromas of sweet malts, coffee and alcohol. Very sweet and full bodied on the palate with a quick alcohol presence on the tip of the tongue that carries through to the back and the finish. A bit too sweet overall, but an excellent beer that has been pushed past the limits of ordinary brewing. Sip this one, it will bite you in the ass.

Strong scent of alcohol and coffee/chocolate. The appearence is very dark with little head. While the smell is of strong alcohol, the taste is much different. It tastes a bit sugary and goes down very very smooth. The aftertaste is sweet as well. There is a very good job of hiding the alcohol taste. You certainly feel it after a short while though. This is absolutely a sipping beer.

2005 Bottle from Bodega’s in Lacrosse. Poured an oily black. Almost overpowering smell of alcohol. Tasted much better than it smelled. Very good taste. Sipping beer. Feels like you’re drinking a wine more than a beer. Would buy again to sip on but a little too strong to have a regular basis.

Purchased at Bodega Brewpub in La Crosse Wisconsin. 2005 variety. Pours a very dark black with thick brown short lasting head. Aroma of roasted grain and strong alcohol. Taste of sweet grainy goodness, slight bite of hop, and strong aftertaste of alcohol. Great amount of flavor that hides alcohol as well as it could. Delicious beer. Would buy again any time. Gets better every sip. haha. wow.

2007 12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a jet black with clear edges ( when held up to light ) with no head and no lace. Make no mistake about it, this is a sipping beer. This is a malt bomb. Thick and syrupy and heavy on the alcohol. A once in a great while treat, but to over the top to want to drink on a regular basis.

bottle poured into a snifter is a brown bordering on black that had some transparency when held to the light. carbination is virtually non existent and there was a light layer on the surface that disappeared all together after a few minutes. aroma definitely has some alcohol in it that takes a minute initially to see through, roast bordering on smoke, heavy malt, caramel sweetness, some underlying dark fruit, and really smells of a port more than a beer. taste can only be slowly sipped as it is an immediate assault on the taste buds. starts with alcohol, smoke and roasted wood, dark fig and raisin like fruit, definitely has a good dose of sweetness, and finished with some burning warmth and bitterness. i guess this is about the extremes of brewing right here, not sure if an imperial stout classifies this correctly either. glad i tried this one once but not sure about returning again at the price per bottle it is a little absurd.
