Huge taste of plums, raisins, toffee, roasted malts and a big booze kick at the finish. This is strong, very flavorful and sweet, but very balanced. Did not give this one quite the attention it deserved. Enjoyed it at a party with coworkers. I shared it amongst them to show them real beer. They all enjoyed as did I. This beer is a masterpiece. Will have to try again on a nice quiet evening to truly appreciate.

On draft at oscars ale house. Very dark almost black beer with a dark tan head. Aroma is rich and roasted malts with lite cherry note. The rich maltiness carries right in to the flavor with a large alcohol presence.

Pours jet black with small tan layer on top and no lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is the same, but not as complex as Iíd hoped. Maybe it needed to warm. Oily. Alcohol is well masked. Very nice.

I know that everyone compares it to a fine port. But the alcohol is to high. Too hot on the back of the tongue. It overpowers the raisin and date flavors. Overall. Good but not great

Slow sipper, jet black appearance. Raisins at first, complex notes. Very expensive but worth the purchase. I recently had it at a beer festival and it was one of the top performers.

Iím drinking this pretty young, according to the bottle itís only a little over a month old. At this age itís still a great beer, itís a formidable adversary... Not a lot going on on the nose, boozy and a lot of sweet malty notes, but lacking the complexity youíd think would be present in a beer of this caliber (and cost...) taste is molasses and a touch of bitterness, maybe cold brewed coffee and a touch of smokiness like from a good scotch. Itís got a decent sweetness... Itís a good one for sure. It hides the 18% abv really well. I have another bottle, and Iím gonna age it about a year, see how that goes.

I just grabbed a bottle of this today. It was bottled about a month ago, so it seems pretty fresh. That said, Iím not too impressed by this. It definitely is an amazing beer, but at $12 for a 12 ounce bottle I hoped for more. There really isnít any aroma to speak of. It tastes like a nice good chocolatey stout. The alcohol is hidden nicely but it does burn your mouth a bit as you drink it. It has that real fresh stout taste that is a little weird. That said, I bought 2 bottles and a planning on aging the other. Well see how this does in about a year or so.

Got lucky and scored a bottle of this, Was not even on the shelves, but asked and they said they are keeping bottles for customers under the counter, by request only. Unfortunately I didnít age this, as I bet it would rate up a few ticks. Pours a dark, oily black with a dark tan head that quickly disappears. No lacing. Boozy smell. At first I thought it might be bourbon or oak aged, but it is not. It has a boozy taste, that I think aging would mellow to get that chocolate flavor. By the end, after it got that nice warm feeling, I thought I was tasting port wine. Man...I wish I aged this. I do like it. Not a favorite, but is ranked high on list, and if I can ever get a bottle again I would like to age it.

12 oz. bottled 1/15/2014. Wow. How to even describe this... More like a liqueur than beer. Alcohol heat on the nose. Pours deep black with a dark tan head, moderate lacing. Tastes incredible, not as boozy as I had anticipated. Still a good amount of alcohol heat with dark roast, chocolate, toffee. Just so good.

On tap at the tap room. Pours black caramel colored head faded fast. Smells off black licorice raisins and chocolate. Taste is complex. Sweet malty and chocolatey. Damn complex stout. Highly recommended.

Hot damn thats right up my alley. Pours pitch black with tan swirls and ring on top. Aroma of toffee and some alcohol burn. Big coffee and dark fruit notes along with dark chocolate bitterness. Big body with light carbonation. Great mouth feel. Some alcohol burn but thatís what I like. Sweet. Good stuff!
