World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Damn, but this is a strong beer. Rich, roasty, and very tasty ... but perhaps a bit of alcohol overkill. Pours an opaque black with a thin brown head. Aroma of malt and alcohol. Taste is coffee, chocolate and alcohol. Lightly sweet finish and a ton of alcohol warmth headed down the gullet. Great beer, but DAMN.

The pour is jet black with a decent head. The aroma is sweet and strong at the same time--reminded me of bourbon sort of. The taste is just incredible. This is a very full, complex flavor. There is plenty of chocolate and toffee like tastes at the start. This is followed by a sweet alcohol type of taste that you would normally get from something barrel aged with bourbon or sherry. The finish is dry, with the alcohol only getting you in the aftertaste--but that slight alcohol burn stays in your mouth and throat for awhile afterwards. Awesome! A fantastic beer that I wish I could have once a week to sip on. "

(Bottle) Pours very dark, almost plum-tinted brown. Thin fizzy tan head dissipates quickly. Very fine lacing. Aroma is plums, cherries, red wine, licorice. Mouthfeel exquisite, a little sticky at end. Flavor and character reminiscent of a fine port wine, but it is unmistakably still a beer. Alcohol blends right in but is definitely there. Something to be savored. Just leaves you licking your lips. Probably the best alcoholic beverage I have had. Unbelievable texture for a beer. Wow.

2003 version: This is a good beer. Poured with a beautiful dark brown/reddish color, almost black in the glass. A small but nice head, especially for 23%. The flavor...for being 23%, the alcohol taste wasn’t bad at all and an AMAZINGLY smooth mouthfeel (for 23%, at least). The taste is very sweet and rich, but very little stoutish coffee flavor, which was a little disappointing. Did I say this beer was 23%? I might come back to this, but not too often, for drinking 4.5 beers in one glass is a bit too much for me...and frankly, I’ve enjoyed, flavorwise, lower alcohol beers more. I just don’t see the need for this other than to say I’ve had a 23% beer. 2006 version (Sept 2007) - Sweet, fruity and vinous. Lots of raisins and dark fruit with a spiciness that made is quite palatable. Alcohol a bit less noticeable this time. I gotta bump this down a bit...a little overzealous in my first review.

2004 vintage. Poured black with a small creamy light brown head. Strong aroma of dark fruits and a hint of chocolate. Taste is primarily chocolate, backed up by dark druits, with a touch of roasted coffee. The finish is dry bitter dark fruits. The alcohol gives the beer an overall dry taste. Thick body. A well-crafted stout, but this sort of kick from one beer is hard to get used to.

12 oz. bottle, 2006 vintage bottled 10-10-2006, courtesy Lou18. Pitch black colour with a fully lasting creamy tan head. Heavy alcohol, licorice, citrus, chocolate, currant, and very roasty aroma. Chocolate, raisin, dark fruit, lightly vinous, and alcohol flavours. Full bodied, very warming but not hot, also not as thick as you’d expect in something with this much malt and alcohol. Big, complex, and tasty.

Pours a dark reddish brown with a thin brown head. Lots of great aromas including raisins, molasses, espresso and vanilla. Definate alcohol as well. The complexity is somewhat lost in the flavor. Too sweet, and the raisins and alcohol overpowered everything else. It was a bit too cold when I first tried it, but letting it come up to room temperature didn’t help much. Perhaps aging would help mellow this beast.

A black color with a small tan head, some lacing which is note-worthy at 18%. Strong alcohol, rum like aroma. IMHO this tastes just like a rum and coke, with the coke coming from a fountain dispenser with too much coke syrup. Sweet, stickey, syrupy. I liked the 23% better. After drinking this I kept thinking I wanted a beer. Note, the Vim and Vigor was not blacked out on this bottle.
