World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Pours black with a little bit of light getting through, there is a nice light brown head. Very vinous aroma with a burst of alcohol and sweet malt. The beer engulfs the whole mouth with extraordinary maltiness. Surprisingly hidden alcohol.

A 2009 bottle from Homer321 & my 400th rating! Aromas are strong plum, fig and port. Holy crap. Pours deep oily black with nice legs lightly carbonated. Taste is intensely complex. Very much like a strong port. Holy crap. Plums, figs, raisins, etc.... Palate is smooth and consistent. Overall, holy crap this great.

2010 Bottle just purchased from a liquor store in RI, so 2+ years on the shelf. Pours jet black and thick with a thin short-lived tan head. Aroma is of dark roasted malts, caramel, baker’s chocolate, slight coffee, faint hops and alcohol. Taste is similar, deep sweet roasted malt and fruit perhaps, lots of dark chocolate. Silky smooth and slightly viscous mouth feel, the low carbonation really makes this smooth. Definite alcohol presence here but mostly on the way down, and not too overwhelming for 18%. Overall a solid imperial stout, my guess is it may be a bit on the harsh side fresh. I have 4 left and will be sure to age them further to see how this monster develops!

Bottle from App Vintner? - catching up on old ratings from Oct/Nov 2012 timeframe. Will add a review, eventually, though I loved this big beer, as I recall.

12oz bottle (2009) pour to snifter. Seems more of a barleywine than an imperial stout. Big boozy port nose and taste. I didn’t get any complexity: straight sweet plum and aged port. I appreciated the uniqueness and enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as good as I expected with the beer’s reputation.

solidfunk (1918) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 26, 2013
Pours dark and syrupy without much head or lacing. Aroma of booze, prune and dark fruits and roast malt. Texture is syrupy and oily. Low carbonation. Finishes sweet and slightly sour - tangy. Overpriced, and alcohol is a little excessive - makes this too sweet for my liking at least. Some coffee in aroma as well. Bottle.

Sikash (179) - North Carolina, USA - MAY 23, 2013
Poured from a 12 oz bottle aged ~9 months. Pours a nice dark color with a light tan fizzy head. Aroma is very alcoholic almost fruity, with some undertones of roasted notes. Flavor is very smooth with roasted and chocolate notes but still very alcoholic. Finish is alcoholic. Mouthfeel is smooth almost silky like parabola carbonation is average. Overall this is a solid beer but I think it needs more time.

2010 vintage Poured into a snifter. 200th review. Dark used oil brown appearance with a thin light brown head. Medium lacing. Aroma is huge booze, chocolate, Sweet dark fruits. Taste is sweet, tangy, brownie chocolate, dark chocolate, roasted malts, bitter coffee finish. The booze Aroma and taste is almost a soy sauce flavor. That must be from all of the barley and high abv. Medium thickness, still medium carbonation after a few years aging. Good stuff, I?ll try my other 2010 in another 2 years maybe.

This stout is a mixture of chocolate, cherries, dates, with a smoked taste, this stout is for anyone who loves full flavored beers that fill you up like a three course meal. Thank you Dogfish Head.

Mmmm. One of the great ones!. It has a standard stout pour - very dark with a thin white head that doesn’t leave much lacing. The aroma is primarily boozey with some sweet licorice notes. The taste is semi-sweet toffee like without any bitterness. It’s malty goodness & rather smooth at 18%. Absolutely phenomenal! So good I used it for my wedding toast instead of the traditional champagne! Beautiful man!
