World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Bottle at Monks Cafe, Stockholm. Pours dark brown with a brown head. Aroma of wine, soy and some smoke. Taste and body lacks of direction, a lot of everything but still it feels thin in a way. Realy odd brew, buy it to still your curiousity not to expect the best beer in the world... Resembles Mikkeller Black hole.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2012 Bottle, many thanks to my Secret Santa. Almost black color with minimal beige head. Aroma of raisins, prunes, pears, chocolate, lot of alcohol. Taste, roasted malt, honey, prunes, burned sugar, chocolate, lot of alcohol. Strong alcoholic syrupy-light bitter finish. Excellent beer.

Pours a pitch black with no head. Aromas of vanilla, roasted, alcohol, cream, dark fruits, cherries. First taste is sweet. Then roasted with a small alcohol bite. Nice flavors of roasted malt, cherries and charcoal. Finishes with a strong alcohol flavor. Mouthfeel is oily and sticky. Overall a delicious beer, a must try.

Like Dogfish’s 120 Minute, this clocks in with one of the higher ABVs out there. However, one thing apparent to me in tasting my bottled 2011 (not aged - out of a snifter), was the lack of body compared to other massive stouts. The body was not full as I’d expect from a stout like this. This may have led to some of the flavors hitting to hard/strong. The aroma and appearance were very inviting, but the beer didn’t deliver as I’d hoped it would.

Scubatrip (549) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - FEB 1, 2012
On tap at the brewpub in Arlington, pours black with an off white head. Lots of chocolate and alcohol fill the nose, with a hint of black cherries. Strong but smooth taste, alcohol comes first, followed by chocolate, then alcohol strength, some more chocolate, a bit bit of roastiness. One makes you feel good, two and you probably shouldn’t be driving. As good as the billing.

"Picked this up at State Line Liquors in Elkton, MD. Paid $9.49 a bottle. DFH Alehouse was charging $15 for it in Fairfax, VA and Wine Cellar in Chester, MD was charging $9.99. Poured into generic glases at 55 Degrees F A - 2.5 Finger head that had some tan hints to it. The beer itself was Deep, DARK black just complete on the money stout! S - I got a lot of Figs, raisins, vanilla and some earthy berries. T - Cinnamon, raisin, fig, banana and lots of malt and some coffee in there M - Heavy, manly and in your face. This beer blows your taste buds away! O - For an 18% beer, I didn’t taste much alcohol. The dark fruits overwhelmed every bit of this beer and took control. I bought 3 bottles and can’t wait to age the remaining 2 and see how they come out in a year."

Thick black with little cream head. Coffee, booze, toasty malts, (a little chili!?) and very warm. Warm and dry finish.

On tap, pours a black with off white head. Low hop aroma with malts base. Big mouthfeel. Alcohol is well balanced with caramel malts and some roasted maltiness. Not as much black malt. Finish is fruit and alcohol. Good beer.

Almost got drunk just smelling this pitch black beer - almost no head. Can taste the alcohol flavor but it doesnt have the bite... Dangerous! There’s a lot going on throughout the experience - is there a dark cherry flavor in there ? Very sweet. Every sip has you bracing yourself when you take a whiff of the alcohol. Then you get the sweet, malty taste... With that cherry, or is it allspice, or dark chocolate, or Irish cream (a little like a car bomb!), or all of these? Love the complexity, hate how I can’t drive home now... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
