None of the releases’ labels provides its ABV, however:
2001 - (18%) displays the unaltered words "Vim and Vigor" on the label, gold cap
"Vim and Vigor" is crossed out only on the 2002 release (23%), which is not rated under this listing
2003 - U.S. release (18.8%). No "Vim and Vigor" present, gold cap.
2004 - Bright yellow cap, no date stamp
2005 - Bright yellow cap, date stamp
2006 - Dark green cap, date stamp
2007 - Dark green cap, date stamp

World Wide Stout is one of the world’s strongest dark beers. It is brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year. Dark, rich, roasty, and complex, World Wide Stout has more in common with a fine port than a can of cheap, mass-marketed beer (released in early winter with very limited availability).

Bottle. Poured a very dark brown/black with an average sized light brown rocky head that was mostly diminishing and had fair lacing.The aroma started with a strong alcohol scent, then of burnt dark bread malts, a leathery yeast with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, molasses and dried friut (Plums I think). It tasted strong of alcohol and had a sweet-wine characteristic in the beginning then matured to a sweet-bitter flavor with hints of coffee and molasses with a touch of chocolate at the finish. Mouthfeel was medium to full in body and creamy yet oily in texture with a nice soft carbonation. Overall a nice stuout but a little to much of an alcohol tinge for me.

Pours an opaque black, smells of dark fruit and alcohol. Very warming in the back end with a dark fruit/caramel front.

Pours an oily jet black in a snifter at home. Shared with Edgar. Small mocha head that didn’t last long. Strong aroma of coffee, cocoa nibs, and dark chocolates. Heavy malt presence. The taste is super dark chocolate, coffee bean, slight vanilla, booze and more booze. It had a little metallic taste to it and for some reason didn’t seem to balance well for me. Finish is booze and coffee. Medium to full body, mild carb. Not really for me.

Pours black. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malts and some alcohol. Taste is amazing with large sweetness followed my medium bitterness accompanied by warming alcohol.

Bottle shared by sonnycheeba. Pours a deep dark opaque brown with w thin layer of toffee colored head. Aroma has a heavy booze and oak hint. Taste of roasted malts, coffee, and booze.

Bought this one own a whim from Beacon Hill Wine & Spirits in Boston. No idea this is 18%. Which by the way is the same alcohol content as my beloved Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. Pour an inky dark with tan head that disappears quickly. Nose has, what?!? booze, roasted malt, soy sauce. Taste is intense. Booze, lots of malt, roasted and caramized, you get a bit of an alcohol mouth burn in the aftertaste with malts too of course. Why brew a beer at 18%? Because they can. Damn good reason.

Bottle pour, black body, graham colored head. Aroma is raisin, roasty malt, booze. Taste is raisin, plum, molasses, palate is thick, moderate carbonation. Beer is quite sweet, how much barley did they use to get 18% and still leave thus much sugar?! Finish is at least a bit bitter. Booze is prominant. This pushes too sweet very close, just bitter enough to skirt that, barely.

I really like this. The nose has chocolate, plums, bourbon and yeast. The palate is the star with a little bit of carbonation, oak, chocolate, vanilla and nothing out of place. Glides out of the palate like a pro. Delicious beer.

Bottle, 2005. Pours near black, no head. Aroma is prunes, bourbon, soy, black chocolate, cherry, oak, some complex brandy-like heat. Taste is impressively drinkable sweet bitter chocolate and bourbon. Coffee, prunes, oak. Tasty.
