4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a very strong beer. Gulping is not allowed. After drinking this I forgot where I lived, and I was sitting on my living room couch at the time.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a medium brown with no head. 12 years old at this point. Aroma was of port, dark fruits, chocolate, light roast. Flavor was similar, much more like an old English barleywine, dark fruit and chocolate and still really hot.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 20, 2015 This beer ROCKS! Had this at the 2014 RB Pittsburgh Summer Gathering at Horny Devilís place. Actaully it was after the equinox at the beginning of fall, but DILLIGAF. Big thanks to James & Michelle for hosting such a nice spread of quality beers and for this particular beer a GIANT thanks goes out to beerman6686. Was not expecting much but what I got was shades of J.W. Lees Harvest Ale (Lagavulin) or OíHanlonís Thomas Hardyís Ale (2003 - 2008) - good stuff. Smelled like old, real old merlot. Big and black on the appearance with no head. Yes, a fine refined taste of well aged barley wine. A little hot on the back of the throat but that is of no consenquense. Reminds a bit of fine aged wine or sherry. Smooth and easy. Overall, a nice brew to start the tasting event off with. Yes, much better than expected. Yummy, actually.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared thanks to beerman6686. Pours a dark cola color, slightly translucent. No head. Completely flat at this point. Aromas of fig raisin caramel alcohol. Taste is sweet with a ton of heat still. Reminiscent of a big barleywine. Oxidation. Decent for what it is.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big time Booze but drinkable considering. Easily the biggest stout Iíve ever had. Felt like I drink a pint whiskey straight after this one. Gotta try it once.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Incredible sweet and boozy. Thin looking pour, fast fading head. Roasty malts and alcohol on the palate. Good, but tastes like a schanpps.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at Paulís tasting. Pours pitch black. Aroma is caramel, raisins, and alcohol. Taste is SWEET, easily the sweetest beer Iíve ever tasted, but somehow not terrible. Not a shred of bitterness, almost no roasted notes. Almost no carbonation. I would possibly sip on this again.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: Bottle at Paulís Blind Impy Stout Tasting, 1/5/13, Imperial Stout Rating #100
Aroma: The nose is really sugary and sweet, with some caramel, toffee, and chocolate as well
Appearance: The pour of this beer is brown-black in color with absolutely no head or lace
Flavor: The taste is also just super sweet, a little oxidation, and just more sweetness on sweetness
Palate: The body is on the thicker side, with less heat then expected, and a bunch of stickiness
Thanks Paul! It was really cool to try this 10 year old bottle, and honestly was probably one of the highlights of the tasting for me, despite the fact that it was so sweet that it bordered on being hard to drink. Iím still really glad to have had a chance to try it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Paulís tasting. Huge thanks to Paul for busting this one out. Pours black and flat. Super sweet and sugary, with caramel candy, lighter roasted malts, and dark fruits. I actually really enjoyed this. I could knock it for being so damn sweet, but in small doses, I really like sweet beers like this.
