Bottle 12.fl.oz. [ Vintage 2002 ].
Clear dark black color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, moderate to heavy raisin, dark fruits, plum, prune, port, brown sugar, moderate whisky - alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. What a beer, just love it ;o))

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From 12 oz bottle. Pours dark almost black with no head. Thick roasted malty and strong alcohol note, not so balanced. Minor raisin note. Flavour is thick and heavy roasted malt, chocolate and liqourice but most of all dominated by alcohol. Dry ad dark finish with a slight burning alcohol. Way too much alcohol for my taste.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A black beer with no head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of alcohol and raisins almost like brandy. The flavor is sweet caramel with notes of malt, alcohol, apricot, and chocolate. The alcohol runs prickling over the tongue and it has a very strong body.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of JCapriotti. Dark brown with a vaguee, orange hue - almost no head. Extreme aroma of bourbon and oak. Extremely full body, extremely sweet with lots of raisin notes and other dried fruit. Extremely alcoholic with distinct bourbon notes. The immense alcohol feel puts this a bit off balance. Very subdued bitterness. Still a tremendous beer though. 080707

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, thanks hopsrus!!
Black hole black. I guess this is what happens when you're talking this sort of gravity. Calvados-like aroma. Very sweet, very complex and very, very malty. Notes of prunes, pepper and molasses. I think it is not as balanced as the 18% version was.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at Akkurat, Stockholm Beer Festival 2007, after festival RB night; huge thanks to oh6gdx
Black and brown color, no head, tears on the glass. Alcoholic aroma, some phenol, mature caramel, tobacco. The liquid flows like lava in my mouth, wrapping the tastebuds like a superfluid, with its sweet concoction of caramel malt, delicate chocolate malt, raisins. The final is shorter than expected (the age?). A monster.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
2nd May 2009
Black obsidian stout with dark brown edges. No head whatsoever. Somewhat oily in appearance. Thin (thin?!!) semi dry palate. Astoninshing flavour. Rich port wine like red fruits well belnded with coffee and licorice. A little brandy in the finish which has a mild carbonated bite. As rich and as rewarding as proper (ie not yer £20 supermarkert Quinta) Vintage Port and just as complex! Never thought I would get to try this and without Ratebeer I would not have. Thanks RB!
