COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogwood Bock is a German style lager brewed in the traditional bock style to celebrate the coming of spring. It has a big, smooth, rich maltiness, yet is gently shaped and balanced by a firm hoppiness.

Golden copper. Dense off-white foam collar. Aroma of unspent crackery malts and candy with hints of toasted corn, burnt malt husks, warming alcohol, mineral, and spicy hops. Soft carbonation. Smooth, slick body. Rich, rounded malt display accompanies the toasted bread flavors. Mild spicy rye notes intermingle with bread-coated raisins, burlap, and toffeed malts. Lovely subtle roastiness and unsweetened chocolate pick up at midstage, but leave enough room for the juicy hops. Finishes soft and mellow with a mild apple twang to assist the firm toasted malt character, dates and corn. Tasty, albeit simplistic, version.

On tap at the Flying Saucer in Charlotte. Poured a copper color with a light off-white head that diminishes fast. The flavor starts out malty, but the bitter finish is what makes this one stick out in my mind. It's potent, yet not overwhelming. A good beer.

Burgundyish brownish red, with a nice white head. Grainy, toasty aroma. Full, nutty flavors, with a slightly flat finish. Sampled at the brewery on the Great Atlanta Pub Crawl, 2004.

Pours copper with a thin head. Strong malt aroma, but not quite as strong taste. A little sour. Slightly sweet with balanced hops. Smooth finish. Pretty good bock... now if it only had the character of the bottle art.

Tastes like a german beer, but not an above-average one. Most of dogwood's other stuff is better.

Pours a copper ruby color with a thin whispy head. Good malty German bock aroma has a hint of strawberries. Body has a nice caramel sweetness and is well balanced with a subtle bitterness. Finishes with a light sourness. A decent bock.
