COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogwood Bock is a German style lager brewed in the traditional bock style to celebrate the coming of spring. It has a big, smooth, rich maltiness, yet is gently shaped and balanced by a firm hoppiness.

Probably one of my least favorite Dogwood beers. Strange aroma and flavor that lacks malt sweetness or hop bitterness. Kind of bland in a craft brewed way.

This beer was freaky boring, tastes alot of Shiner. That is what I thought this was in a blind taste test, just a tad lighter. Nice balance, with more than I was expecting for the style. Boring.

On tap. Not much aroma with this bock, but has a decent flavor with a bit of malt.

12 oz bottle, goblet. Cookie, dark bread, caramel malt (M); earthy, woodsy hops (L); a light toffee undertone. Dull aroma. Deep amber body with a small, fizzy, tan head. Moderately sweet flavor becomes a lightly sweet, lightly bitter finish. Medium-light body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: sticky sweet and boring.

Poured amber with a moderate, short-lived white head. Rich of aroma of malts -- and that’s just about it. The flavor was much the same, a sweet caramel maltiness but just not enough hops to balance. And the beer was too thin for my tastes. Not a bad brew, but not remarkable in any way. For a brewery that I hold in such high regard as Dogwood, I’m disappointed. I’m even more disappointed, however, to see Dogwood closing its doors. Farewell to a great brewery.

The description sayes German, trust me this is not a German style Bock with the heavy and thick malt overtones. It is thin and surprisingly bitter

(Best by 7/11/04) The beer has a slight chill haze and chocolate/orange aroma. The palate is thin for a bock, with an astringent bitterness. This beer is pretty rustic, kind of reminds me of home brew.

This beer looks wrong. Too dark for bock. Has strong amber overtones, and no head even after a hard pour. Malty, strong caramel flavor in taste. Bad example of style and not what I want in a beer.
