Very bitter beginning, with tastes lagging in the end.

On tap.. Poured a clear copper color with a small white head. Aroma is sweet with some roastedness. Flavor has some sweetness then finishes with some sour notes and bitterness. Light to medium body. This came in an imperial pint glass and I really didn’t want to finish it.

A little light for a marzen. Could have used more Munich malt. A good malty flavor though - but nothing special.

clear yellow, whispy head, light malt aroma, light malt flavor, hint of bitterness in the finish, not much to it, good but boaring

well balanced, but still not true to style - needs malty sweetness

opaque rust, thin fine beige head, light fruit aroma, rich body, fruity, lots of belgian character, light bitter finish, balanced, gets better every year, very good, but an octoberfest?

hazy light amber, thin fine off-white head, sweet fruity aroma, rich malty flavor, still more of a belgian than an octoberfest

What a strange take on an Oktoberfest. Mine was a cloudy yellow color with a rather large head. Flavor was sour and slightly hoppy? This was like a watered down APA. I thought this style was supposed to be very malty? This may be the worst Dogwood I've had yet. And perhaps they should read up on what an Oktoberfest is suppose to taste like. An ok beer I guess.

Metallic nose. Overhopped for the style. Super-bitter back end. Slightly acidic. A very confused lager .
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 CaptainCougar (6834) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - NOV 4, 2003
Pale copper golden color with a thin head and mostly flat body. Bland macro-like aroma of stale hops and corn grains with some apple juice. Body really tastes like apple juice with some grainy maltiness and a sugary finish. Not much of an oktoberfest if you ask me. Probably closer to a cider.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 gthank (73) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - SEP 19, 2002
Appearance, palate, and aroma are par for the course, if lacking in the trace of spices I like in a good Oktoberfest. The bane of this beer is, say it with me, HOPS. Not nearly enough malt in this beer to balance the overdone hops. Oktoberfests simply should not have this much hop character, and the problem is widespread if all the recent Oktoberfests I’ve tried have been any indication. This beer is average, at best.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Hangover (937) - Atlanta, USA - NOV 16, 2003
Heavily carbonated and it sure doesn't taste like any other octoberfest I've ever had. More fruity than malty. I don't think it's a good representation of the style... I'll take a sam adams or paulaner any day.
1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 rodolito (162) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 24, 2002
I was surprised at its color upon pouring it. Expected something a little darker than a faint amber. There was a slight haze present (served at 55 degrees). It had a nice white head that quickly died. The faint hop aroma was way overpowered by a yeasty fruity smell. Bitter tasting without any good hop flavors. No maltiness to reward me for trying to drink this. The acidic taste and lack of any good flavors led me to the conclusion that I had opened a bad bottle of beer. Sadness
