COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogwood Stout is a dry, Irish stout. We use a combination of roasted barley, flaked barley and chocolate malt to create a complex, textured maltiness with hints of coffee and chocolate with a rich fullness of body. We leave it unfiltered to add to its complexity. Its deep, dark mysterious color is topped off by a robust creamy head. It too is naturally carbonated. Dogwood Stout won a Silver Medal Winner at the 1997 World Beer Championships and was named one of top two microbrews in Atlanta by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Dogwood Stout is available in bottles and on tap anytime of the year.

A nice beer here, that is...who knows how old. Received in a trade with someone. Forgot exactly who sent it, but thanks. The beer was nice. As nice as a dry stout can be. Granted, it’s not one of my all-time favorite style, but this was still very nice. An aroma of coffe, in fact it damned near dominates the nose. Some light aroma of dark chocolate is barely detectable. The flavor of chocolate and coffee dominate as well. A bit of a puckering twang was also picked up, perhaps due to the malts.

Bottle thanks to shp555. 2004 edition. Pours a dark brown with a beige head that goes down pretty quick. The aroma is heavy brown sugar, some dark fruits perhaps. The taste was mostly a dry burnt malt, brown sugar, some hints of dark fruit, and overall a sweet chocolate flavor. This is a decent beer that has left us. Thanks go to Steve for sharing this.

Thanks to SpringsLicker for the retired bottle! Best before some blurry date that I think is in 2004. Poured near black with a beige head that didn’t stick around for too long. The aroma picked up well-aged roasted darker chocolates and dark fruits.. sweeter, chalky cocoa undertones.. this held up quite well. The flavor was more focused on the darker fruits.. dry-roasted darker chocolates were less prominent, but enjoyable. About medium-bodied with lower carbonation and a very enjoyable dry, slightly grainy finish.. I really enjoyed this!

An 03 bottle my buddy Jason pulled out and asked if we could drink it? Sure, why not! Somewhat carbonated, especially for the age, some burnt chocolate, roasted malt, earth, but held up well for the age, enjoyable, wish the brewery was still around! Thanks to shp555 for the bottle, my friends and I enjoyed it!

Quite dry and roasted. A little too much roasted flavor but not bad overall taste wise. The only problem was gushing when opened and I also had some bottles explode in my kitchen.

This little treat poured an almost opaque ruby color with a small tan head. The aroma had big coffee and roast notes. The aroma was dry. The flavor was semi-sweet with coffee and mild chocolate. Smooth light-medium body. Clean.

12oz, Best Before 09/25/0_, thanks to shp555, he put a tag with ’03 on the neck. This didn’t gush, as Ty had said, but I got about 1/2 inch of beer while there was a good 5 fingers of tan foam--maybe this beer shouldn’t have been aged? The body is black and more black. Milk chocolate, brown sugar, and some roasted malts make up the aroma. It should be noted that this was difficult to taste due to the sharp carbonation. The yeast just went nuts on this.Flavor is the same with bits of ash, and a definite ashy mildly bitter finish. There was a little bit of salty soy as well. Can’t really pick up on any alcohol. Way too overcarbonated on the tongue with a light to medium body. Despite it being four years old, this has done pretty well despite the yeast overcarbonating this.

big sweet roasted and coffee aroma, lots of sweet creamy roasted malt flavor, lasting light bitter finish, still a great stout after all these years with a bit more sweetness,
