COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dogwood Stout is a dry, Irish stout. We use a combination of roasted barley, flaked barley and chocolate malt to create a complex, textured maltiness with hints of coffee and chocolate with a rich fullness of body. We leave it unfiltered to add to its complexity. Its deep, dark mysterious color is topped off by a robust creamy head. It too is naturally carbonated. Dogwood Stout won a Silver Medal Winner at the 1997 World Beer Championships and was named one of top two microbrews in Atlanta by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Dogwood Stout is available in bottles and on tap anytime of the year.

This beer offers an aroma of ground coffee. The color is dark dark brown and has no head or lacing. A coffee tast that leaves a sour taste lingering.

The most carbonated stout I've had as of yet. Poured with a huge soda like head that was formed from large bubbles. Has a smokey aroma with some notes of coffee. Feels a bit thin on the palate and highly carbonated like soda water. Flavor is a bit stale so this may be an old bottle. Bitter and dry with not much flavor.

Well, I got the same explosive result as Volgon and thought the same thing, but I’m pretty sure my bottle IS slightly off - a sour, acidic taste troubles the brew. Despite these two negatives (carbonation and acidic note), a fair enough dry roasty flavour does fight its way to the palate now and again, so I’m guessing it’s a decent stout fresh and at the brewery and I’ll account for that in the ’flavour’ mark. I do have cousins in Atlanta, so I’ll be able to rerate at some point. This rating will work til then - the ’best by’ stamp indicates July 02, so it’s fair to knock them for the off flavours, I reckon.
