03/01 Draught at the brewpub. This had reddish body with big ocher head staying up there for quite long time. Aroma is of strong pepper chili with some notes of yeast and malts. Flavor is strong and hot, as the waitress warned me. Besides that chilly I couldn’t resolve anything else. Finishing throat-burning hot, I could not drink the glass to the end. Interesting thing...but let it be.

Clearish dark orange. Large slowly fading beige head with small bubbles clinging on the grass sides. A convincing chili aroma, sharp, fresh, multi-coloured and with small caramel malt hints underneath. Develops a certain earthiness in the way and this allows the pepper, not too sharp, not to take the whole attention. Rather diplomatic. In fact, the bite only appears for the first few sips and after that, I could easily drink 2 or 3 glasses. Light body, convincing medium carbonation. An easy-going example that does not forget to be beery, but obviously does not have the most malt character.

My beer no.2 of the Croatian RB team’s beerhunt in Graz.
I’ve been wanting to try this for a while now (but kinda hoped that I wouldn’t), and I finally tried it today. Oh joy. Poured a nice opaque darker red-brown colour with a medium to big sized beige head that went away slowly. The nose was strong and assertive... yoghurty.... kinda like curry sauce, with hints of yeast and chili. Taste... well... full certainly, but kinda dull, chili owns it. Hints of black pepper. Ends with a sharp graininess. Oh, right, and it burns.... a lot. Argh. Should’ve ordered a glass of water with it. Not all that impressed, but I can respect it. Kinda. It just isn’t my cup of tea.

Wahoo...got some significant chili bite plus rich malts...lingering lip ting. Different than SW United States chili beers in that the malt is big and bready. Wish the food had as much spice!!

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. -maybe this is some kind of a new recipe but this certainly isn’t Dark Chili beer (according to officially web site this is RED Chili beer), this is my first chili beer so I don’t have anything to compare it with, but one thing is for sure- I didn’t like it!!! Clear pale red coloured, medium head, dusty malty nose, not so pleasant strong pepper and chili aroma , harsh chilli and curry mouthfeel. 5-3-5-3-12.
Lately I become chilli fan, so more I drank it more I prefered it.
