COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dominion Ale is brewed in an English style with American Two-Row Pale, Caramel, and Black malts. We use Perle, Willamette, and Mount Hood hops from the Pacific Northwest and English Kent Golding Hops. We ferment our ale with a traditional American yeast in the German Kolsch style - warm, fast fermentation followed by a slow maturation. Dominion Ale is malty with an assertive hop character dominated by the Kent Golding. It is crystal clear amber colored with medium body. Widely available in bottles and on draft, often as a house brand name.

Pours amber with a nice foamy head that shortly dissolves leaving a fine filmy coating on the inside of the glass. Aroma is faint and sweet, slightly sharp but you have to really get in there to smell it. Flavor is classically amber. Caramel, woody sweetness with a lightly bitter finish. On tap, it has a very carbonated quality, which does something to cover the marked lack of complexity and limited palate. An okay amber to go with food, or quench a quick thirst, but nothing too special.

Pretty average ale. Some astringent hops in the finish. I tried it cold, and it might have some more flavor at room temperature. I dont agree with Bierkrug below, who gave it a snobbish anti American review. It was not too sweet. Just nothing special.

Copper pour with a small white head. Malty nose with a touch of sour hops. Flavor is much the same. Not a lot going on. Not bad but not really remarkable.

BeerandBlues2 (5594) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 30, 2008
Bottle. Pours clear dark orange with a small, fizzy, off-white head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, grain, meal), heavy hops (flowers, perfume, grass), average yeast (sweat, musty) with notes of pear, pineapple, and vinegar. Light bodied, mineral texture, soft carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

Draught at Old Dominion Brewhouse, Washington DC
Deep blond color. It’s brewed without flaws and without character. The aroma is very light, the flavor has just some malt and some more caramel showing at the end.
