COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dominion Ale is brewed in an English style with American Two-Row Pale, Caramel, and Black malts. We use Perle, Willamette, and Mount Hood hops from the Pacific Northwest and English Kent Golding Hops. We ferment our ale with a traditional American yeast in the German Kolsch style - warm, fast fermentation followed by a slow maturation. Dominion Ale is malty with an assertive hop character dominated by the Kent Golding. It is crystal clear amber colored with medium body. Widely available in bottles and on draft, often as a house brand name.

I like it, but the lager is better. Score adjusted.

Amber colour. Rather dumb in the aroma department - some citric hop, but not very distinct. Orangey hops and pale malt in the flavour. Soft finish. The balance is reasonable, but there’s nothing very forceful and it ends up being rather middle of the road - solid but uninspiring. On tap at the Dominion brewery.

Shared bottle courtesy of Eyedrinkale (thanks!). Poured a medium orange color with a white head. Sweet and fruity/almost citric aromas and tastes. Caramel comes out in the tastes as well.

The Lure:
A veil of butter shades the earthy hops and orange-y eyes. A slightly metallic look is able to stare through.

The Festivities:
Diacetyl is thankfully submerged under the earthy hops and caramel, as well as beneath my tolerance threshold. Over here, they would call it a "Rousse", and it would be marketed by average micros to the nearly adventurous masses.

Transcendence:
Yet another university party.

BeerandBlues2 (6096) - Lone Tree, Colorado, USA - NOV 30, 2008
Bottle. Pours clear dark orange with a small, fizzy, off-white head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, grain, meal), heavy hops (flowers, perfume, grass), average yeast (sweat, musty) with notes of pear, pineapple, and vinegar. Light bodied, mineral texture, soft carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

DocLock (5970) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 13, 2004
Pours deep straw colored, with minimal head. Smells of malt, slight yeast, citrus, and hops. Tastes malty, not very hoppy, with a crisp, slightly sweet finish.

Rastacouere (5921) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 9, 2005
Very light amber, clear. Small diminishing head. Surprisingly buttery aroma, floral and pear reminiscent, but above all oily and vegetal (almost corny). The understated fruits and very sparing hops don’t contribute much bitterness and the overall light-medium body with higher than average carbonation both betray the lack of richness… Sub-par for Dominion. Thanks Hopscotch!

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an thin off white head. Floral hoppiness, some mild malty caramel, a hint of wood, light fruity esters citrus, an a mild bitterness to boot.

BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - OCT 3, 2006
Draught at Old Dominion for breakfast - RBSG DC 06 Amber, light head and lacing. Nose of caramel and pale malts. Light hop. The flavor is thin, fairly boring. Typical "ale", like a watery amber or an underhopped pale. Maybe a caramelly blonde? The finish is toasty. Eh.
