COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dominion Ale is brewed in an English style with American Two-Row Pale, Caramel, and Black malts. We use Perle, Willamette, and Mount Hood hops from the Pacific Northwest and English Kent Golding Hops. We ferment our ale with a traditional American yeast in the German Kolsch style - warm, fast fermentation followed by a slow maturation. Dominion Ale is malty with an assertive hop character dominated by the Kent Golding. It is crystal clear amber colored with medium body. Widely available in bottles and on draft, often as a house brand name.

Amber, creamy lacing head. Light grassy hops, ok malt balance. But pretty unexiting.

Poured a copper color with a bubbly white head. Nutty malt aroma. Malt, then hop taste. Not bad.

Strong, buttery, oily, diacetyl with some notes of cheese in the aroma. Deep golden-amber with a light cover of white head. Buttery flavour meshes with floral, perfumey, earthy hops and some caramel and toffee notes. Medium body with fair carbonation. Bottled on 2-Dec-04. Trade - Feb. 2005 - Thanks, hopscotch! Sampled with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper hued amber with a thin white head. Nice biscuit and malt profile, a touch of toast. Medium bodied, velvety. Caramel flavors, a bit sweet with some biscuit and grain. Finishes up with some dry grainy bitterness.

Pours bronze with a small ecru head. Nose is dominated by malt but has an adequate hop base to it. Malty, hoppy mix on the tongue. Very drinkable with a little bitterness during the finish from the remnants of the hops. Pretty good beer.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2004 Light orangeish appearance - not very amber. Light white head with little lacing. Aroma has a bit of a funkiness to it - slightly stale and musty. Not a whole lot of flavor going on here, slighty malty with just a tad bit of hop bitterness. The aftertaste leaves a lot to be desired. Addition Had on tap at Hamburger Hamlet in Arlington Va as "Hamlet's Premium Ale" in Arlington Virginia - turns out to be the same beer according to the brewery - Has a dark orange appearance with a thin white head, good bubble action and decent lacing. Very faint sprucey aroma, but hard to detect. Has a faint citrusy flavor, not overpowering with a bit of a syrupy sweet malty undertone. Finish is a bit harsh. Overall, beats the macros that they had on tap - rating 2.6

Bottle: Darker golden, fairly vibrant, large frothy off-white head, sketchy lacing, no carbonation.   Butterscotch and mush tun aroma.   Very similar on the tongue.   Past its prime maybe?   Seems the same as The Great American Restaurants Pale Ale.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Buttery finish.   Yeah, need to revisit I think.   Thanks danem for sharing!

Tap at Chadwick’s in Friendship Heights labeled as "Chadwick’s Ale." The pour is a clear tea amber with a thin, diminishing, beige head. No lace or retention. Nose is sweet cherry and heavy grenadine. Taste is sweeter, with lots of English malt, with a good dose of buttered popcorn/diacetyl and heavy biscuit. In the finish is sort of a stinging EKG bitterness. Diacetyl heaviness and faux body prove too much to quickly put down this beer and it ends up being more of a chore than a treat. Very dense and heavy palate. Almost zero hoppiness. Butter explosion.

A: The beer pours a dark amber color with a finger of creamy, tan head. S: Smells slightly meaty, which is a bit off-putting. Under that, there’s toasted bread and toffee. A hint of brown sugar and some floral and grassy hops. T: A bit better on the palate. Brown sugar, toffee, and toasted bread makes up the bulk of the flavor. A light fruitiness, particularly orange peel. Very light metal notes on the back end. M: Medium in body with medium carbonation. O: Not awful, but too many things wrong with this beer.
