COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dominion Ale is brewed in an English style with American Two-Row Pale, Caramel, and Black malts. We use Perle, Willamette, and Mount Hood hops from the Pacific Northwest and English Kent Golding Hops. We ferment our ale with a traditional American yeast in the German Kolsch style - warm, fast fermentation followed by a slow maturation. Dominion Ale is malty with an assertive hop character dominated by the Kent Golding. It is crystal clear amber colored with medium body. Widely available in bottles and on draft, often as a house brand name.

I like to support local breweries and I have to say that this is one of the better ales brewed in VA. The color is a dark gold and the flavor is exactly what you would expect when you look at it. Not too heavy and definitely not light. Goes very well with a nice grilled steak. I very much enjoy this ale with a meal or afterwards when I just want to kick back. Also, it is readily available in almost every location I have visited in the central/northern VA area which is a nice touch. Kudos to the Dominion Brewing Co.

Bottled 06-22-07. Clear orange-copper with a small head that tries to hang around. Aroma of honeyish malt, marshmallows and earthy spices. Taste is honey with spiced pecans n’ caramel at first (yet not very sweet), turning to a stronger nutty flavor and drying in the middle; finally comes to a just-right bitter finish. Bitter herb and nutty cereal aftertaste. Palate is almost medium-bodied and fairly smooth with high carbonation and a drying hop tingle on the end. Excellent, full-flavored session ale.

Pours a dark amber with a very small amount of bubbly offwhite head. Aroma is sweet caramel maltiness with a little floral hop prescence. Flavor is very similar to the hop pocket but a little less hoppy which i personally think balances it out better. Sweet caramel malts and a nice slightly hoppy, but not overbearing english hop prescence. Overall, pretty nice beer.

Very nice when supporting your local brewer means drinking stuff from Dominion. Very drinkable brew, with decent hops offset by nice caramel maltiness.

Orange, amber, bubbly body with an offwhite head. Light malty aroma accompanied by mild hops. Starts with a mild blend of malt and hops including faint caramel. Finishes lightly nutty, mildly tangy and just a touch hoppy.

On tap. I could swear it was their lager, or the two are quite similar. Puckering pale malt aroma, seemed like Hallertau was in there. Not amber in color, that’s for sure. Yet the hotel bar advertised it as the Ale. What are the chances they got it wrong? Good beer nonetheless, and I have a bottled Dominion lager in my basement to check again my all-too-quickly fading memory of the weekend.
