“This is a full-bodied American style double IPA brewed with five styles of malts and four different hops. This deep copper colored ale will be served unfiltered to maximize flavor and also dry hopped during the secondary fermentation to ensure a gracious hop aroma. Cheers from us to you and may you enjoy it with friends.

Bottle with a bottling date of 2/18/13 so this is very fresh. This is listed as having an abv of 10.2% here but the back of the bottle says 9.0%. Anyway, it pours a light orange/amber with a slight haze and lots of head. The smell is not typical for a DIPA and is predominantly a candied sweetness, caramel malt and alcohol. Despite this beer being very fresh, and some of the reviews mentioning hops, I am not noticing much of a hop presence at all in the aroma. The taste is bitter but there is also a sweetness there. I would prefer if it wasn’t as sweet but at least it isn’t cloying. The body is medium and the finish is dry. The alcohol is also hidden very well. Closer to a barleywine than a DIPA.

Fra flaske (innkjøpt på Kihoskh) ombord på Fridtjofen (RBHD!) aug-15: ah, en ganerenser med amerikansk humlefest fra ende til annen. Og i tillegg særdeles godt balansert. Life is good. Og utseendet? Gylden, med hvitt skum.

Shared bottle at RB/HD on board Fridtjofen 23.08.15. Slighty hazy orange. White head and lacing. Aroma of citrus and sweet Sevilla marmelade. Similar, and strong, taste. Low carbonation. Superb!

Shared 330 ml bottle. Orange colour, moderate white head. Nice aroma of fruity / citrussy and spicy hops. Very hoppy and quite bitter flavour, but somehow well balanced. Good beer.

Flaska delad med @thaalcoholic, tack. Ljus bärnstensfärgad vätska med vitt skum. Doftar kraftigt maltigt. Smakar kraftigt maltigt! Styrkan finns där utan att bli alkoholig.

12 oz. bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a deep dark orangey amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out earthy notes, with feet, vegetal notes and resinous hops. Flavour tastes better than it smells, with loads of resinous hops, earthy notes, skunky feety notes, and light bready malt. Well-balanced, without too much sweetness or bitterness. Very good stuff.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Cloudy yellow/amber with a nice foamy beige head. Surprisingly there is a strong malty aroma and secondly the hops are present in the nose. Rich malty with a balanced bitterness. Finish is due to the dry hopping nice and long. This IPA is brewed with more bitter hops than aroma hops.

7/16/2015: Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve had a beer from Dominion... Double-D is strong, sharp and alcoholic. It’s malty with a raw bitterness that’s earthy and herbal. The alcohol makes itself known. This seemed like an Imperial East Coast or even English-style IPA. It was okay, but seemed a bit underdeveloped. Dirty golden color, medium body, average texture, a bit of an effort to get through the entire 6-pack...

This imperial IPA has large coarse foam as long-lasting. The aroma is well hidden under the foam layer, but a little pine needles sticking through as the main theme. The taste is slightly malty with fruity notes of raisin. Then comes a little woody richness which tastes a little delicate along the wet oak, or at least as I imagine wet oak would taste. Slightly bitter orange peel with pine needles characterize the overall impression and at the end you will find grapefruit and citrus. The alcohol shows its face in the absolute final and characterize this IIPA slightly negatively. The delicate tones of orange, pine needles and wood was quite exciting, but the acute alcohol lows the long aftertaste that should be present in this IIPA. A little sin, for it is certainly an IIPA with good rates, I just think it is a little too heavy alcohol toward the end.
