3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/3/2013. Pours moderately cloudy deep orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of orange, pear, apple, light banana, clove, pepper, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of orange, pear, apple, light banana, clove, pepper, herbal, grass, biscuit, light honey, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of orange, pear, apple, light banana, clove, pepper, herbal, grass, biscuit, light honey, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; with a nice crisp malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice saison. Good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance: deep orange gold, short light yellow head, minimal lacing. Aroma: sweet nose, with honey, orange zest, some candied ginger and clove. Taste: honeyed graham crackers, clove, yeast, some caramel. Finish: lingering sweetness, some apricot and marmalade over yeast, slightly boozy. Notes: Extremely sweet for the style. Not a bad beer, thatís for sure, but it doesnít feel like a saison. So, dock points for style, but not too many because itís overall a good beer. On draft at hidden gem Quench! in Silver Spring, MD.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Beers of Europe, part of the ídrink a few saisons before trying to brew oneí series. I guess I learned a few mistakes to avoid from this one. A kind of mid-amber colour with quite obvious particles in suspension. Maybe this is ífarmhouseí. Sweet and cloying, way too sweet for a saison, dripping in booze. In one sense itís actually nice enough to drink as a Belgian Strong or something, tastes nice enough. Actually tastes like the first Belgian homebrew I ever attempted, which I would have pretty much given the above review to. As a saison, poor. On its own terms, pleasant!

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
22oz bomber more than two years old. Unfiltered orange-tan body. Massive foamy head. Sort of seems infected, and at the same time heavily oxidized. Aspirin dry aroma. Really long gone, this is quite bad. Some amber malt oddness. Really unenjoyable. Drain pour. Do not age this beer.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, pours amber slight head. Herbs and pepper on the nose with some funk. Fruity and some back end caramel sweetness on the palate, good without being great, not a bad attempt at a saison.
