Toffee apple sweetness up front what was interesting about it was from such a sweet kick it turns into a bitter aftertaste. While i normally like a hoppy beer this was just not doing it for me, i’d like to try it again, in case it was just me or the bottle.

Tap, 6.7% abv, one third pint measure at Jake’s Place. Clear, red-brownish coloured body. Fair off-white head, spotty lacing. Malt-fruity smell, marmalade-like. Semi-sweet grapefruit taste with bread-like malts beneath. Fresh deep bitter ending. Well bodied. Nice (Edinburgh 09.08.2013).

bottle. Golden with small head. Unexciting pale ale. Moderate hops that seem a bit past their prime. Slightly below average.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Trade with Aurelius - thanks! Pours a cloudy dark orange with a sticky off-white head that leaves a nice film of lacing. Aroma has some light spruce notes, some peachy notes. Flavor is full bodied with some syrupy piney notes, a touch of bittersweet grapefruit notes and some caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel come off a bit starchy. Overall, decent.

Hazy amber beer, little cream coloured head. Smooth palate, slightly soft. Mild fine carbonation. Light creamy malt, light toffee. Sweetish citrus with mild minty pine. Finishes smooth. All very civilised, perhaps too much so.

355 mL bottle. They used all of the right words in their description, and this one looks right and smells great. But the taste, while solid, doesn’t quite measure up. That’s not not to say, however, that this isn’t a solid, drinkable, and somewhat different (good thing) pale ale.
