COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dominion Lager is brewed using four types of malted barley: Two-Row Pale Brewer’s malt, Munich, Carapils, and Caramel. The bittering hops are Perle and Hallertau from the Yakima Valley in Washington State. The aromatic hops are domestic Tettnang, German Hallertau Hersbrucker, and Czech Saaz. This combination of malt and hops, along with a classic lager yeast from Germany, and the long, low-temperature lagering process results in a mild, smooth, flavorful, complex beer that is a delight to drink.

Crisp, spicy, floral hop aroma with an oily, buttery diacetyl character that, while not pronounced, is out of place for the style. Clear, burnished golden-yellow with a light cover of large-bubbled bright white head. Crisp, toasty malt flavour balances nicely with floral, grassy hops and a light bitterness with a slight buttery undertone. Medium-light body with fairly effervescent, medium carbonation. Bottled on 2-Dec-04, (trade - Feb. 2005), sampled with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere. Thanks, hopscotch!

A faint white cover thrones over this light gold hue. Crisp aromas of oily hops, highly floral with plenty of herbal, seedy malty nuances and a touch of diacetyl. Incredibly soft toasted malt is highly elegant in here, very biscuity with just battered butter undertones. Grassy soft hops bring petals and algae original hints. Crisp palate, slightly oily texture, moderately carbonated. Greatly executed and quenching. It is 5 months old now and I suspect it would have been excellent within the first few weeks.

A good and crisp lager. It is hard to make a lager that will wow people, but this certainly satisfies in a lager aspect.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with jasonp, thanks Jason!; 20-Jul-04) Probably a bad bottle; This nose and flavor of this beer are mostly just sour, much more sour than would seem normal; It’s hard to make any observations about the malt or hop flavors, all I get is straight sourness; Orange/gold in color, quite cloudy, nearly still in appearance; Off-white head fades fast and leaves no lacing; This is an obvious retry, hopefully with better luck next time<hr>(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with jasonp, thanks again Jason!!; 08-Feb-05) Ah yes, much better. No, make that MUCH better. Now this is the Dominion Lager I remember drinking back when I lived in NoVA. Very flavorful and rich for the style, malty, bready and earthy, mildly sweet, with a soft bitterness from the hops and a gentle sourness that’s like eating sourdough. The aroma is doughy and very lightly hoppy, but there’s still a degree of sourness here, though I think in a strange way, it adds, rather than detracts. Light to medium bodied, but this has a soft, round mouthfeel. Medium yellow color and fairly hazy. The off-white head is very small on the pour and fades quickly to the thinnest of rims. Certainly one of the best American beers in this style.

Dominion Lager is the real deal, its a great lager at a great taste. Not much more to say, but when you have the urge for a bud think a little headier and pick up a twelve pack of some Dominion Lager. Great Stuff
