COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dominion Lager is brewed using four types of malted barley: Two-Row Pale Brewer’s malt, Munich, Carapils, and Caramel. The bittering hops are Perle and Hallertau from the Yakima Valley in Washington State. The aromatic hops are domestic Tettnang, German Hallertau Hersbrucker, and Czech Saaz. This combination of malt and hops, along with a classic lager yeast from Germany, and the long, low-temperature lagering process results in a mild, smooth, flavorful, complex beer that is a delight to drink.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2003 Gold in colour, mild in smell...strong taste-more like a nice ale! In fact, I prefer this beer over the Dominion Ale! Re-rate: Golden body with a very dense, fluffy white head. Very hoppy aroma, dry-hopped with Saaz. Malty taste, perfectly mixed with nice hops. A great beer...I had this on draught at the brewery tour. Tasted at the Dominion Brewery in Ashburn, Virginia on 23-August-2003.

I never expect much from any lager, but this is a very complex brew. Malty aroma and up-front mouthfeel, but it had a very interesting sour aftertaste that did nothing but add to the experience. Excellent beer.

This is a good lager. It is something like dominion's ale but without the aggressive hop presence.

Pours deep golden, with a nice malt aroma. Tastes malty, with some hops, fruit, and a smooth, crisp finish. This is a great lager.

Tap at Dulles Airport. Nice looking clear golden colour with a slim white head. Sweet, malty and fruity aroma with a touch of honey. Sweet and fruity taste with some herbal hops and a touch of honey again. Medium bodied. A nice complex and impressive intrepretation.

I love everything I’ve had from this brewery, and this is no exception. I had this on tap, pours golden with white head. The taste is mostly of sweet malts, the hops add aroma and tastes of spruce and citrus with only a very slight bitterness. Palate was very crisp and refreshing. This may become my go-to lager.

Bright straw body with medium carbonation and an ample, sudsy, pure white head. Fragrant, malty aroma with notes of butternut, honeysuckle, and mild, peppery hops. Flavor is nutty but clean with some sweetness early, good depth of malts with no graininess, and a fresh, wholesome, earthy character. Finishes semi-dry with some crisp, developing bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel. A very good dortmunder when fresh and an excellent session lager.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2004 ***Update 1/18/04: Sampled from bottle. Nowhere near as good as the off tap I had at Dominion. Take a full point off my rating if this is in the bottle*** The absolute best lager I've ever had. Before this beer I thought lager was synonomous with american macrobrew crap, but this beer is like no other. Golden body with a generous, thick white head. Smells hoppy. Flavor is a large amount of hops up front with tasty oatmeal malt and yeast. Definately try this beer, it will change your opinion on Lagers. Had this off tap during the Old Dominion Brewery Tour in Ashburn, VA.

A faint white cover thrones over this light gold hue. Crisp aromas of oily hops, highly floral with plenty of herbal, seedy malty nuances and a touch of diacetyl. Incredibly soft toasted malt is highly elegant in here, very biscuity with just battered butter undertones. Grassy soft hops bring petals and algae original hints. Crisp palate, slightly oily texture, moderately carbonated. Greatly executed and quenching. It is 5 months old now and I suspect it would have been excellent within the first few weeks.

Deep yellow color; little head. Interesting spice on the back of the tongue tempered by a pleasent sweetness at the front.
