UPDATED: NOV 18, 2004 Above average American barleywine. Reddish brown in color. Strong alcohol taste with slight spice but can be occasionally soapy. That’s the only drawback me or my friends can find. They prefer Monster while I prefer this.

A good Barley Wine. A little too much of an alcohol taste but good nonetheless. Very strong so think twice before breakingout the yag after these

Overall light in color for a barley wine. Solid kick in taste and you feel hints of honey.

Faint aroma of honey and a lovely orange/copper hue. Very bitter on the palate (100 IBU). It was tough to cleanse my palate after this bad boy!

Another year, another stellar vintage of Millennium, Old Dominion’s very special barleywine. This beer is my opinion is one of the world’s greatest beers. It’s huge malt character is balaced to perfection by its huge hop character, and pure Virginia dark honey, gives it the perfect alcohol boost. 02 Millennium pours to beautiful, bright, deep amber color with a thick and creamy off white head, and a soft carbonation. The nose is very fragrant with big sweet and caramel malt aromas paired with grassy hop aromas and peppery alcohol. The body is lush on this beer with fat sweet malty and caramel flavors, paired with a nice back drop of estery fruit. 02 Millennium finishes with more complex and delicious malt flavors, then ends with a soothing, warming, high ocatane burn, and a balancing hop bitterness to those big malty flavors. This beer is perfection in a glass, and will continue to improve with age. Without question, one of the greatest barleywines being brewed today.

I wish there was a rating for originality because there is no other Barley Wine that resembles this. Very light in color and in body but heavy on alcohol and hop after-taste. The Virginia honey is very apparent but not overwhelming. Rather mild as this style goes but a good Barley Wine for those that don’t necessarilly love the style or who haven’t tried one before.

Reddish brown. Somewhat sweetish, but, thick, powerful and well hopped. A good barley wine.

Great malty profile. Honey is noticeable in flavor, and malt dominates balance although hoppiness is evident.

A big malty, alcohol-filled, caramelly club to the head. While not as spectacular as SN’s Bigfoot, Millenium’s a good barleywine. Great maltiness that just hangs on the palate forever. Quite nice.
