COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

LCRBM 2009. Light brown in the glass, small head. Aroma of chocolate and cinnamon. Starts modest sourish, gets stronger and stronger, very complex, a bit alcoholic, but also very fine spicy, again notes of cinnamon. Well balanced finish. A great beer!

Bottle via trade. More than likely drowland. Cheeky bastard. Pours a clear orange color with a slight white head. Aroma is sharp caramel malts, brown sugar, aged notes and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet. Sugary malts and caramel. Geez this is super sweet. Drippy malts.

Bottle sample at the Front Porch tasting. Pours clear amber with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel, booze and more caramel. Super caramelly flavor with a bit of booze in the finish. Lacking in complexity, but still pretty decent.

Bottle Very small tan head that mostly diminished, no lacing, mostly opaque, no visible carbonation, and an orange brown hue. Nose was hoppy, sweet, malty, some caramel, and fruity. Ditto for the flavor with some pine taste. Fairly smooth mouthfeel. Medium body. Somewhat refreshing. Decent.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2004 Jan 27, 03 bottling date. Man, this stuff kicks ass. Light brown color with big bubbly head. Killer malty chocolate aroma that is incredable. Strong caramel and oak alcohol taste. There is no way it tastes 11.5% now. Malt, chocolate and toffee are all over the place. This will be an even better beer down the line. Could be the best barley wine I have ever had. Re-rate on a Feb 19, 2004 bottle. Not the best barleywine I've ever had. Lay it down for real.

Clear and rusty orange. Rich, intense sweetness from the first whiff to the last swallow (not necessarily a "dessert" sweetness, though). Super-smooth and rich texture. Complex sweetness (aged caramel, if there were such a thing), with notes of candy sugar and Astropops. Flowery bitterness. Nice balance, surprisingly. Dryish finish, curiously. Hidden alcohol, but warming. Really good stuff.

Pours a pretty clear amber copper color, and is topped by a midsized tan head. The aroma is of rich malt, alcohol, and a hint of hops, the malt definitely dominates though. Wow, this beer is thick and rich. The finish is made up of warming alcohol. This is very malty, with thick chewy notes of caramel, and biscuits.

There is actually quite a bit of hop contribution here as well, it was just hard to pick out because of the dominating maltiness. the hops are herbal, grassy, and piney up front. The finish is moderately bitter with a hint of astringency. Overall this is quite enjoyable, certainly it is quite flavorful and rich, though the hop flavor could be a bit more dynamic.

Malt and caramel aroma, copper, tiny cream head. Flavours of the malt and hops mesh together creating a lovely warm treacle toffee. Sweet, warming, full bodied and well balanced. Terrific! Thanks jgb9348!

Side by side pour with the oak aged version. Regular is hoppy/herbal aroma after a dark red poor with a bit of off white head. Taste is citrusy at the beginning that leads into the dark fruits of the malt and bitters a bit. Excellent barley wine, and no sign of the 11%!
