Draft. A black beer with a red shine under a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of coffee and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of coffee, alcohol, and roasted malt, leading to a dry coffee finish.

4oz pour at the Northern Virginia BrewFest. This one poured a pretty pitch black color with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is cold pressed coffee, with lots of earthy character, roated malts. Flavor is like drinking coffee. Alcohol is actually pretty well masked, at least it was when I was drinking it during the day. A bit of a earthy hop streak in this one causes a little something that I didnít like as much, almost tastes a bit too green/fresh, but otherwise, the espresso in here hits the marks pretty well.

Appearance: pitch black, short, creamy tan head. Aroma: smells like a cup of black coffee, with hints of dark chocolate and a whiff of orange peel. Taste: espresso, dark chocolate, hint of vanilla and caramel. Finish: woody, with lingering acidic coffee over burnt black toast and chocolate. Notes: NoVa Brewfest 2014.Decent coffee stout, canít understand why itís billed here as a sweet stout, nothing sweet here. A little too much acidity keeping it from being absolute top tier, but still darn good, even outside on the first day of summer.

Has a surprising acidity but a nice roasted quality tempers it. Some vanilla and dark fruit as well.

355 ml bottle in Vienna, VA. Pours hazy dark blackish brown with tan head. Aroma was espresso, cacao, and choc malts. Tasted rich, fairly complex, with heavy coffee and chocolate notes, some hops, and a lot of balancing malt. Palate was moderately smooth. Not bad
