3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours from the 12 oz.bottle a dark brown that borders on being black with a HUGE 2 1/2 finger beige head that seems to last forever before settling into a thick collar. It's impossible to judge the carbonation level by looking for bubbles in the darkness. The aroma is somewhat faint, but there are hints of coffee and smoke. 1st sip brings a mellow mixture of black coffee and unsweetened dark chocolate. The flavors are somewhat subdued and underwhelming at first taste, but they linger and get more noticeable on and after the swallow. The mouthfeel is somewhat on the thin side, but has more heft than your average macrobeer. Overall, this is a good offering. Quite a nice introduction to this brewery and it's beers! Looking forward to more!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
pitch dark, small brown to light brown head. aroma of sweet roasted malts, coffe, dark chocolate and perhaps a little bitter caramel. faint coffee and some frutiy notes. flavor is lots of coffee, dark chocoloate, coffee bitterness, mocca, whole coffee beans, chocolate cake, some roasted malts. liquid dessert, hops and malts almost just spice to the really heavy coffee and chocolate. Not very refined, but very brutal instead. You can clearly taste the coffee beans.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle in D.C.
A very good, mainstream coffee stout. Good balance in both bitter/sweet and in roasted grains/coffee flavors. Looked like it might be over-carbonated at the pour but the feel was quite good.

Pours black with a short thick tan head. Very mild vanilla and chocolate aroma. Soft cocoa ( not milk chocolate) taste with a chalky middle. Soft foamy mouth feel. Not as heavy as some stouts.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Back of the bottle reads "bottled on 02/13/15."
This was poured into a mini - snifter.
The appearance was a black color with no head nor lacing.
The smell had some dark fruit blending with roasty coffee bean. Light cocoa balances nicely.
The taste was mainly roasty with the dark fruity tones making it semi-sweet together. Dry roasty coffee aftertaste leads to no finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sipping quality about it. Carbonated decently as a Double Stout, dry roastiness really develops on my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a decent Double Stout. But probably not necessarily a go-to.
