The barrel aging is evident in the aroma with strong smells of oak, vanilla, and char. The oak comes through some in the flavor, as well, but it’s different than bourbon barrel aged beers. Initially, there is an interesting sweetness, but the charred wood and smoke cut through. A dry, boozey finish provided by the 6% ABV.
It’s good, but not quite great. I think for something boasting oak aging, I want more of that flavor.

On draft. Taste is weak coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla and a gentle hint of booze. Smooth and very good.

Highly carbonated cola body, thick ring of head, dissipated center. Moderate coffee roastiness with a hint of vanilla in the nose, but otherwise, not much oak/barrel character. Roasty body with vanilla underpinnings, but a tad thin body. Overall a solid, medium-bodied stout.

Tin aroma. Pretty good looking; an interesting head color - brow, with a bit of grey! Very nice, smooth, almost supple flavor, though a high viscosity allows great loss into the palate. Vanilla is present, barely. I do have a gripe. "Oak," should not be on the label of this beer, let alone in the name. It’s a decent, very light stout that’s remarkably drinkable. Marketing it as an ’oak barrel stout,’ and appealing to the connotations that such a name implies, is a farcical shame. In sum, it’s a decent beer that is ludicrously and inappropriately named.

Great tasting stout with hints of vanilla and smoke but not ever powering. Taste better after sitting a bit. Not a session beer but nice.

The beer is dark brown with a thin beige head. The aroma brings chocolate, roast, milk chocolate or chocolate milk. Really smooth and creamy. Perhaps a touch of oak if any at all. Vanilla and cream soda like flavors. Fairly sweet. A decent beer, but one is plenty.

Smokey deliciousness. This is quite nice. Also it has a moose or elk on the bottle- that just seals the deal. Got a six pack and I did not regret the choice.
