COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

Bottle in the Head of Steam, Durham. Pretty much black with a very small tan head. Sweet at first before a big vanilla coffee finish. Woody oaks flavours too. Quite refreshing for a stout.

Bottled 12/21/12. Poured 12/19/13. There seems to be very little vanilla left here. Pours an oily, opaque brown-black with a thin, bubbly light brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roast malt, bread, earthy, touch grassy. Taste is chocolate, roast malt, coffee, some oak. Light lacing. Medium-light bodied. Medium-low carbonation. A really nice stout but I’m sure this must be better fresh.

jamestulloch (1050) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 13, 2013
Keg at Jake’s Place. Black body with a thin tan head that slowly fades. Mild aroma of toffee, chocolate, vanilla, furniture polish and treacle. Flavour is incredibly sweet - honey, oat, blackcurrant flavoured Strepsils and milk chocolate. It quickly becomes cloying. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Average carbonation. A sickly sweet Stout - not my idea of a good time. On the plus, the oak flavour comes through well.

Bottle at Bill’s Olde Tavern. Blackish brown with minimal head. Taste is sweet malt, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar. Not aggressively sweet. Almost like a scotch ale. Enjoyable.

Pours dark brown with ruby windows and a thick tan head. Sweet bread aroma. Tastes of bread, vanilla and wood. Palate is watery. Overall a decent stout, smooth, but lacks the wallop you’d expect.

Bottled. Pours cola black in color with a bubbly tan head. Sweetish milk chocolate, dark roasted coffee notes in aroma. A bit of sweetish chocolate notes in taste, roasted coffee notes lingers in the back, some burnt wood as well. A bit of earthy notes in finish as well. Bitter chocolate and notes of salty licorice in finish.

actually kinda watery for a stout. nice aroma of coffee and a bit of creme brulee. taste is good with dark malts and a bit of brown sugar, but its kind of one dimensional and doesnt have much body on the tongue. its better than no stout at all, but i wouldnt go out of my way for it again.

Typical dark stout pour with light tan head. Vanilla and oak aroma. Fairly thin body for a stout, similar to a porter body. Vanilla and malt up front with a molasses and oak finish.
