Organic , complex , fresh green weed , green oak cones . Dark brown , fine head . Mixed front, complex set of malts, lightly bitter, soft. Refined, soft light stout.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2005 Fluffy camel head perches atop black coffee colored liquid. Decadent fudgy nose- toffee, caramel, chocolate. Disappointingly, Flemish sour ale dominates the flavor profile. Also a rush of roasted malt and some hop flavor, plus a hint of cottage cheese. Smoky finish with metallic twang. Mouthfeel is rich but not full. Stubborn tinny aftertaste that I have to brush my teeth to get rid of. Confused beer.*****August 2005: Found another bottle in my basement stash. Bottled a year ago. Mauturation has melded the flavors dramatically. Beer is dry and tastes of black malt, espresso, dust . Sweet/chocolate flavors have faded. Pleasant fruity, cidery tartness. Appleskins. Hints of wood, peach, and vanilla. IMO, this beer should be aged before sale. Original rating numbers still stand.

This one pours a nice opaque black in the glass with nice a tan/brown head that has good retention. A perfect picture of a stout. The cocoa and coffee smells stand out the most in the aroma. Hints of vanilla and smokiness come through as well. The taste has a number of things going on with it mainly the roasted malts and chocolate followed by vanilla and espresso. This is a very tasty and ridiculously drinkable stout indeed. The mouthfeel is creamy and a bit thin, but this definatly lends to its drinkability. This is one beer I will keep a sixer of in the beer fridge as often as possible.

Dark brown with a long-lasting, greyish brown head of large bubbles that leaves behind a few buttons of lace. Nose is strong with a burnt sugar/roated marshmallow character. I’m suprised by how light bodied this is. I was expecting an imperial stout as those are normally the best canidates for barrel aging but this would probably be better classified as an export stout or maybe even just a regular stout depending on gravity. There’s a definite woody, earthy must to this which I will acount to the toasted oak, yet vanilla beans are nowhere to be found. A bit thin bodied and somehow lacking in carbonation. A bit disapointing.

Dark brown almost black body with a tan head. Excellent and full aroma! Sweet and creamy with lots of malt and chocolate. Chocolate and citrus dominates the flavor with hoppy notes also. Rather odd and not very full in the flavor but really tasty. Yummi!

Was all excited thinking this would be my first barrel aged beer, but alas no. Black body wiht a small but persistent khaki head. Dominan aroma is a mix on a them of vanilla and caramel with what I can’t put my finger on but am attributing to the oak influence. Touch of underlying alcohol. Very interesting aroma, but I am not sure if I entirely like it. Flavour is malty, with some roast. Hints at vanilla, with a tiny not of underlying sour woody notes. Nice smooth palate. Bit disappointing actually. Thanks for sharing Radek.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2006 This sounds like a fine beer - and for once you really can judge a beer by it’s cover. Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a small creamy tan head. There was a faint aroma of dry hops and chocolate. The mouthfeel was incredibly thick and creamy. There was a strong chocolate and vanilla flavor tempered by a nice addition of hops and a sweet malty finish. This was like drinking chocolate milk.

A big fan of this dark, dark stout. This is beer pours with a great tan head that lasts for a couple minutes. Aromas of caramel, coffee, and the oak chips that are dryhopped with this beer are present. The tast is the same. Not an overly malty beer, but has great flavor before the hops balance it out. The aftertaste is not overly sticky ... quite nice.

On draft at the St James Tavern in Columbus. Chocolate! Aroma of chocolate, a hint of roasted barley, and a touch of vanilla. Big upfront flavors of bitter chocolate and vanilla - these fade quickly, not much of a middle, and a hint of bourbon to finish.

Pours black with a small tan head. Taste is sweet, vanilla with hints of coffee. Creamy taste throughout. This beer was on draught at some lame chicken joint. It surprised me with its rich flavor. Thumbs up.
