COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

This beer pours jet black with a robust beige head. Some lacing is left behind as the head slowly drops. The aroma is that of dark chocolate and roasted malt, with faint vanilla notes. The flavor has roasted malts and oak, with some licorice. As the beer warms a slight smokiness comes out. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. There’s a nice lingering hop bitterness, but none of the expresso astringency that one finds in some stouts. This is one goes down easily, perhaps too easily. However, at just 5.2% ABV that’s not too much of an issue.

Transferring some earlier reviews from my blog to RB. Märts 2014, City Beverage, London. Valades pruunika varjundiga must, vähene vaht on suht hele kreemikas, pole eriti püsiv.

floydslip (200) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 20, 2014
Dark cola-colored beer with a late-forming thin beige head. Virtually non-existent nose, but what’s there has some light chocolate, dark caramel, and nuts. Flavor is much more pronounced than the aroma with rich roasted grain, hints of burnt wood, and sweet vanilla coming through slightly. This is offset by a mild bitterness. Pretty thin for a stout, which goes with the rather mild flavor profile. Pretty good.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Joes. Opaque very dark brown to black color with a deep dark red glare coming through, average to medium sized beige head. Aroma is malts, lightly roasted malts, dark raisins. Taste malts, lightly roasted malts, a hint of raisins. Is there a hint of wood? Well, I think it’s because it says it has oak chips. Anyway, it’s not very good imo. Drinkable, but not very good.
