4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Biggs88 (17) - Philadelphia, USA - NOV 5, 2009
UPDATED: NOV 11, 2009 This is a perfect stout every way you look at it. First off. The pour. It pours like a normal, every day stout untill you see the head. Or lack there of it. Unlike other stouts that tend to be over carbonated to give the novice beer lover the impression it’s a quality stout because it has a huge head. No no no. This beer has a modest one inch head. Thats all you need. Thats all you get! The aroma is that of chocolate, smoke, vanilla, and malt with a light sweetness at the end of the smell. The taste is truely amazing. No matter WHERE you are, once this stout hits your lips and tounge, you are instantly transported to a log cabin where you are curled up next to a fire place in the middle of nowwhere with 5 feet of snow on the ground outside. I tell no lies!!!! This beer has HUGE flavor. Chocolate and vanilla undertones with the firm malty stout as the main show. Not to mention the toasted oak somewhere in the middle. I am VERY pleased with this beer. If you can, buy it and try it. There will be NO let down. I would pay $9 for just one bottle of this quality beer. But I get a SIX PACK for just $9.25!!!!!! I cannot believe the price of this. This beer is made by true beer lovers. How and WHY they sell it so cheap is beyond me. This is a Cadillac beer at a Kia price.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 bth122 (582) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 28, 2012
Bottle, poured A black color with medium head. Nice Aroma of cocoa, vanilla, coffee, smoke. Light bitter, light sweet taste. Medium bodied, creamier texture. Some cocoa and smoked flavors in this. Not as much oak barrel flavor as I remember before. An oldie but goodie. I would like to try a higher alcohol version of this.

An actual Dominion beer that I don’t want to pour down the drain. Nice dark color with a good amount of roast and caramel flavor.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MadRobin (177) - Silver Spring, USA - MAY 20, 2012
On tap at Old Dominion Brew House (restaurant, not a brewpub) in Hyattsville, MD.
Opaque, very deep brown with small tan head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of vanilla, wood and roasted malt with a hint of coffee and chocolate.
Taste of vanilla then the oak, roasted malt and toast.
Medium body and above average carbonation. Oddly, the mouthfeel at the finish is a little thin. Otherwise, an excellent mouthfeel.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 MisterDenson (61) - Virginia, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Rating #32 for 2012
Crisp aroma of sarsaparilla and bitter coffee beans some sweet cream. Appearance was perfect for me; opaque with a creamy 1 inch caramel head and spotty cream colored lacing. The taste was a full bodied smooth yet still crisp stout. It finishes smokey with a medium bitterness. My only critique; it was too smooth, I like my stouts with more bite.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Finhead (705) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - MAY 18, 2012
A deep brown pour with a tan head. The aroma was woody with some nut and faint vanilla. The medium body has a creamy texture with average carbonation. It has a sweet taste with a somewhat dry, oak finish.

Tap at fireworks - not a lot of aroma on this one even after it warmed up. Pours a dark red with a white head. Taste is mild toasty bitterness. Over rated.

Stout is not my favorite type so for me to rate something this high means a lot. Good mix of sweet and smoke
