This rich, red ale is made in the American Pale Ale style. It has a strong hop character, medium body, dry finish, and floral hop aroma. We use pale Two-Row Brewer’s malt, Caramel 80 and 40 Lovibond malt, and Munich malt. For bittering and aroma Willamette, Cascade, and Tettnang hops are used in the kettle and as dry hopping in the fermenter.

Very hoppy aroma, copper, with a medium sized vanilla head. Majestic hops flavour, fine bitterness, nice tongue tingle. A really enjoyable beer, seems like an I.P.A. Thank You Radek.

Excellent APA, copper in color, nice lacy soft white head, had a floral & citrus-like aroma, the flavors included some very nice spiciness as well as a dry & bitter mouthfeel, the aftertaste was dry & bitter as well, all-around a very nice pale ale

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2003 This is a re-rating from a beer I had on Tap at Hero's in Manassas, Virginia. I bought this in a bottle from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia. The colour is a little odd, darker amber and a nice white head which leaves decent lacing behing on the glasss. The aroma is almost purely hops, but that is a very good thing! The taste is pretty balanced, although a bit vinegary--even from the bottle. Good hoppyness balanced with adequate maltiness combined with decent sweetness. A pretty good pale ale, the first time I had it, it wasn't good at all...but this time in the bottle, I'm pleasantly impressed. One to pick up if you are in Washington or Virginia!

A very balanced Pale Ale. The hops do not dominate and are nicely complimented by the malt. There is a bread-like quality to this beer that is hard to explain. Somewhat nutty as well. Very drinkable. Thanks to VA Homebrewer for hooking me up.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2003 That fresh Cascade aroma just nails you in the face before laying down to let the malts shine through. This beer is amber in color, darker than the average pale ale and comes complete with a moderate white head. The citric, astringent hop nose and flavors are also more pronounced than you might expect from an APA. That being said, this has more than enough malt to compliment with toffee, nuts and bread shining through. Finish is clean, but the beer leaves a lingering malt aftertaste. Body is average. A beautiful and balanced pale ale.

As noted, wonderful color, but flat head, as is typical with the otherwise great Dominion beers. This one is definitely in the APA tradition--fruity, hoppy and wonderful. I think it achieves a great, dynamic balance that some APAs fail to. Nice to have an East Coast rendition.

This pale ale rocks. A lovely amber hue. The aroma is of roasted malt. The flavor is malty, nutty and especially hoppy. The hops definitely win out overall (hopheads take note). The finish is fizzy, crisp, clean and dry. Just bitter enough to satisfy a hophead on an off day. A great Summer beer for the rest of us.
