2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ehhdayton (1188) - USA - MAR 29, 2006
The aroma has some caramel malt and grapefruit. The color is a dark golden with nice tan head with lacing. However, there are large particular pieces floating in the beer. The flavor has some malt but primarily a hoppish bitterness.

Dark pour with a nice film of tan lace. Grapefruit and woodsy aroma. Initially, it has a very malty taste with some caramel, cookie and earth notes. Hops find their way into the middle and their bitterness lingers into the finish. Borderline English, but the hops and finish separate it. I enjoyed this one!

(02.03.06) On tap at Old Dominion brewpub, Ashburn, VA. Clear light orange hued ale having an average white head with good lacing. No discernable carbonation. Light sour hop aroma. Medium bodied that starts with light malt sweetness and light hop flavor. Finishes dry with light hop bitterness. Detected some stale, sour flavors. Oxidized beer? Not one of Old dominion’s better offerings.

Dominion Pale Ale pours to a beautiful deep amber to ruby red color with a thick and creamy off white head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. The nose is awesome on this beer. Big waves of piney and citric hop aromas marry with some nice sweet, caramel malt, and toasty aromas. The palate is a sea of smooth maltiness, and it is this fantastic malt backbone, that supports the estery fruity, citric and herbal spicy hop flavors, that dance over the tongue. Dominion Pale Ale finishes with more malt, fruit, and hop flavors, then ends with a big blast of citric and piney hop bitterness that lingers.

Keg at the Hilton Dulles Airport. Amber coloured with a large white head. Quite well balanced for a US pale ale, nicely hoppy with malts to match (almost), some fruity elements. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Good

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a tannish frothy head. Lotsa carbonation thru the glass. Aromas of malt, hops, and bandaid. Smooth flavor: nice balance of hops and malts, with the hops winning out in the end, with a very pleasant aftertaste of slight citrus. Seems like a hoppier version of their Ale, which I happen to enjoy.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 BuckyinMinn (18) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - NOV 9, 2005
I enjoyed this beer, but directly out of the tap it felt like there was too much carbonation. Also, there seemed to be a strong taste of malt instead of hops. Good beer, but unfortuneatly only average.

A very hoppy pale ale with a dry taste to me. I enjoyed it and the colour was nice as well.
