argo0 (6176), Washington DC, USA Jan 17, 2008 (12oz bottle, bottled 11/10/07) Fluffy medium head that leaves nice lacing atop clear dark amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, sharp grapefruit, light peach. Taste is medium sweet, sharp grapefruit, some lemon, light bread, peach. Soft light-medium body, some acidity. acrdz (4297), Boulder, Colorado, USA Dec 13, 2007 Clear copper brown and orange color. The nose has some chewy caramel and vanilla floral hop notes, the crystal malt making it’s presence felt especially. It’s slick and syrupy on the tongue, oily but not thick, with a light vanilla and potpourri flavor along with some cedar and toast flavored hops, mostly woody and nutty and less fruity and grassy. The texture and body is fairly weak and loose, and that’s the biggest problem with this beer. Overall it’s fresh and drinkable but nothing I’d come back to again. The_Beer_God (2837), Newport News, Virginia, USA Dec 24, 2007 Bottle. Bottling date is 112107. Dark amber to almost copper pour. Small tan head dissipates rapidly. Aroma is lots of caramel, hops and citrus. Taste is very much similar. Lots of caramel, chewy malts, slightly spicy hops, and citrus peels. Body is medium to medium-full. Moderate carbonation with a light bitterness. Ends with more citrus peels, chewy caramel, malts, and spicy hops. Not too bad but I think Dominion needs to go bigger with it’s Winter seasonals. jgb9348 (1825), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Feb 7, 2008 Bottling Date: 29-Nov-2007
Deep slightly hazy amber/brown coloured body with a dense thick tan head that stays atop for quite a while. Aroma of fresh hops with more english hops than american. Some apricots in the nose, caramel and a bit of nuts tucked in too. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive bitter hop taste up front fading to an also strong nutty malt flavour soon afterward - very strong, yet complex. Aftertaste shows more of the hop bitterness than anything else, but some of the dryness of the malt comes, along with some pit fruit sweetness at the very end. Overall, a good decently well-rounded IPA. Tons of bittering hops, especially right at the very beginning and at the very end...but nice all around. I’d still prefer a Hop Pocket Ale to this one, but it’s great to try this Winter selection! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 8-February-2008. scraff (1659), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Dec 12, 2007 Dark amber, creamy off white head. Peached grassy nose fades into lighter earthy pines and hints of chocolate caramel. Moderate hop flavors of earth and peach mix well with lesser citric grassy notes. Just a touch of sweet malt in the background aims to balance and round. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, lightly bitter finish. Maybe good for a 6 pack to provide company, but overall it’s nothing special…
