Tree bark and soil nose, with bakers’ chocolate accents. Cola brown, floaties, medium tan head. Medium body, smooth. Roasty with subtle fudgy notes. Alcohol not noticeable. Nothing too unusual or spectacular, but an enjoyable porter.

Damico (3144) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 7, 2012
Pours dark chocolate in color with a tan head which dissipates pretty quickly. The aroma is roasted malts and a bit of light smokiness. The flavor is light roasted malts with notes of the chocolate as well on a medium body with a pleasant creamy ending.

More like a lager than porter. Nothing too distinctive about the taste. Slightly malty/hoppy. Good value though.

Bottle. Overall, very good. Deep brown, clear, light tan head. Chocolate aroma, rich. Full body and lots (too much) carbonation (the only negative). Bitter finish that really sticks around. Would recommend.

Harris Teeter, DC six-pack ($7): Pours a dark brown with a not white head. Aroma is chocolate, toffee, chocolate toffee, and more non-descript roasted jawns. The thing about this beer is not that it is very complex. It is not that original either. It is, however, extremely sesionable and his a super proper balance. Is the flavour profile my favourite? No, but I like it anyway. I think that this a good effort at making an accessible and easy-drinking Baltic. Kudos.

gpekar (492) - Florida, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Poured a clear, dark mahogany brown with nice orange highlights. There was a tall creamy brown head with large bubbles. There were some carbonation bubbles rising up from the bottom of the glass. The aroma was mild with hints of coffee, dark chocolate and licorice. The beer had a slightly creamy texture The beer had flavors of dark chocolate, licorice and some espresso. There was more of a mellow dark chocolate bitterness in the middle with a hint of smokiness. The finish became more smooth with a more mellow bitterness of chocolate that faded gradually, There was a light amount of lacing throughout the glass. A very easy drinking beer with good flavor.

Bottle from SL. Pour was deep brown black, tan colored thin head. Aroma of smoke and chocolate, licorice. Flavor of roast, chocolate, smoke, faint licorice. Rye not noted during the tasting, odd hop character, body was moderate to full for the style but not smooth and velvety, like a star bp. Meh.... Weak in style for sure.
