1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Unfortuantely, I canít write many good things about this porter. The head is very lacking, as it disappated to almost nothingness very quickly and left just about no lacing around the glass. There isnít much to the nose; only a trace amount of maltiness and a light hop aroma. The body is extremely light and the flavors are very bland. I have enjoyed several of Dominionís beers in the past, so I was really looking forward to trying this one. But I was extremely disappointed.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Opened with a magnificent pfft, but the expected gush never came. Poured deep brown with a well-retained tan head. The aroma picked up rye right away on the bright fore, paired with near-metallic notes over semi-sweet chocolate and licorice.. just a little bit burnt.. there was just some odd malt character going on that I couldnít put a finger on. The flavor found the same chocolates, burnt licorice, and sweeter caramelly malts at the core, with spicy rye and vanilla around.. finished with an odd sweet/spicy hit and some ugly clashing stuff. Medium-bodied with too much carbonation on the palate.. the rye was interesting in here, but the rest of the beer didnít come together that well.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
pours brown with amber gleaming edges. It has a huge creamy brown head with aromas of chocolate, raisins, coffee, lactose and some tart berries. The flavor is dark and roasted with some sweet berries and chocolate. Kind of thin. Nice roasted quality, but the flavors are not as intense as I would like from the style.

Bottle from Hop City. This looks pretty dark. It seems black in dim light but some brown hues are noticed around the edges in better light. The aroma is decent with hints of licorice, coffee, and chocolate. There is some off-putting sour type scent as well. The flavor is pretty clean with adequate roast to keep my sipping this down with a smile. Hints of licorice, caramel, chocolate, and earth are in the flavor. All right stuff, just has some sour lager twangs popping up here and there.

Dark brown, medium light tan head fades. Aroma of coffee, toffee, mocha, grain, oat. Taste is rich dark malt, chocolate. Medium body, thick and creamy for a Porter. Toasty finish.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Norfolk, VA (bottled October 20, 2009). The first thing I notice before opening this is that it is only 6.8%. That hardly seems worthy of the Baltic Porter style. The pour is dark brown with a thin off-white head. The aroma is good with toasted oats and dark chocolate. The flavor is solid with smoky malts and some coffee. This is thin bodied especially for the style. As a porter this is a pretty good beer, but in no way do I believe this is a Baltic Porter from both the ABV and the taste.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a crimson tinged black with a thin to medium dense tanned mocha head. Roast and coffee on the nose, picking up a faint caramel note as it warms. Medium bodied, roast and malt, a little vanilla. Missing the dark fruit Iíd expect from a Baltic porter. Still a decent beer though.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottled sometime in October) This beer reminds me of a higher gravity version of the Polish Porter that ODBC brewed several years ago during its Ashburn, VA heydays. It is smooth well rounded with dry notes of coffee and milk chocolate.

12oz twist-off bottle. Black pour, off-white head. Aroma of coffee, nuts, toast, chocolate, and some wood, licorice, and molasses. Light refreshing texture. Flavor of burnt grains, lots of chocolate malt, very chewy with a touch of pepper on the tongue. Lots of toasted malts, very pleasant on a cold winter day.
