Reviewed from notes. Pours a moderately dark brown color with a tan head. Nose is of caramel, a bit if roast, chocolate, and dark fruits. The taste is mildly fruity with some darker flavors taking the front. Good feel with good carbonation and a bt of heat. Drinks well bt fairly ordinary. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-01-2010

Bottle. Pours a dark bruin body with a tan head and light retention. Aromtically sweet and roast y with chocolate malts, roasted coffee, caramle notes, and a some light earth like spices. Spiced body sharp licorice bitter sweetness with a kiss of caramel and a dry slighly mineralic finish. Pretty good.

2/22/11. 12oz bottle. Dark brown pour with red edges under a fluffy tan head that sticks. Very light aroma of chocolate coffee and bitterness that reminds me of a schwarz. Sweetish flavor at first that transitions to a hint of sour with chocolate and coffee and finishes plenty dry. Eh.

Dark brown color, tan head. Sweet vinous scent. Sweet, fruity, malty, alcohol taste. Smooth mouthfeel, fairly low sort of grainy bitterness.

On tap at BWI airport, this may be the best airport beer Iíve ever had. Pours black with a thin head, semi-sweet aroma reminiscent of cookie dough with a hint of vanilla. Taste is mostly malty with notes of chocolate and barrel vanilla. Thin but not watery. On itís own, nothing too special, but a very welcome relief from the normal airport fare.

Poured into a pint glass. 4.5 A: Clear dark brown. Killer head. Two finger of it and frothy as all hell. Awesome retention and plenty of lacing. 3.0 S: Maybe my nose is malfunctioning today, but I donít smell a damn thing. Maybe a bit of roasty toasty malts. 3.0 T: Hints of chocolate and coffee. Really boring overall though, especially for a 7% ABV. Tastes like a few stouts Iíve had that didnít taste like anything. 3.0 M: Medium-full body. Good carbonation, decently creamy. Chalky aftertaste. 3.0 D: Not anything special at all, but no huge problems either. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-29-2009 02:29:08

12 oz bottle, Thanks Casey! Pours a dark choolate with a tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is mellow with slight chocolate malts and a little doughy yeast. Palate is thin, but goes down easy. Taste is a mellow porter with a smooth finish.

12oz bottle from Chevy Chase in DC. Itís Christmas and my family hates it, but still: tick, tick, tick...on it goes. Dark brown with a one finger tan head and some lacing. The aroma is roast, chocolate, nuts, and caramel. The flavor is mildly sweet with caramel malts, roast, chocolate, earth, and anise. Only a little above average flavorwise. Medium-bodied with average carbonation and moderate smoothness. Decent but not too impressive Baltic porter overall.
