Nice black color with decent head and lacing. Although it only has 6.8% alcohol content, the alcoholic flavor is pretty noticeable and overwhelms the otherwise malty flavor. A hint of chocolate as well. Medium body. Doesn’t taste like a baltic porter....too light for that...o.k. all around.

From notes: Poured opaque dark brown with a 3-finger light tan head. Chocolatey aroma with a touch of toffee. Full body. Very slightly oily, which lingers in the finish. Chocolatey flavor, with a light roasty note and a touch of anise.

12oz bottle. thanks mike67. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma and Taste is of roasted caramel malt, some cacao notes and mild dark fruit and mild bitterness. Palate is medium body with moderate carbonation. The finish is mildly sweet roasted caramel, some cacao and a touch of dark fruit on the end with some bitterness for balance. Overall a good drinking brew.

Poured from the bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a watery consistency with a black color that had a slight deep brown hue and a good-sized creamy dark tan head that had nice retention, and good cling and lacing. Its aroma featured a mixture of caramel and light chocolate malt blended with some earthy, grainy hops tones, along with notes of roasted toffee and light pine. It had a good sweet taste featuring coffee, some caramel, and a late slightly bitter grainy effect. The beer had a wet, creamy body with good fizz and life, and a pleasant mouthfeel.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours near black with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light chocolate note with a bit of dark grains and a touch of dark fruits. Flavor has some sweet dark grains with a hint of chocolate and a strong light fruit backbone that is a bit out of place.

Bottle: The aroma consists of dark chocolate, fruit, and very faint roast. It pours a dark brown with orange highlights and a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with a quick dose of milk chocolate. There’s some faint fruit in the background. The finish has light roast and a hint of alcohol. It’s light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/26/2012. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, raisin, cocoa, toast, dark bread, light coffee, clove, and floral earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity; a bit muted though. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, raisin, cocoa, toast, dark bread, light coffee, clove, and floral earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, toast, raisin, dark bread, light coffee, clove, and floral earthiness on the finish for a bit. Very nice balance and robustness of flavors, with good complexity; great balance of malt and yeast esters; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good baltic porter style. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle into snifter glass. Dark brown color with creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and licorice. Taste is the aroma adding some earthy hop bitterness and a slight rye spice on the finish. Full body, low carbonation, quick and dry finish. Pretty good.
