4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours black as night with a thin brown head that quickly evaporates to nothing at all. Smells of roasty malt, mixed with dark fruit and a just hint of smoke.
No surprises in the mouth as it reflects the nose almost perfectly. Roasty and dark fruit (raisiny) with a fairly chewy body but creamy as well. The roasted malt and fruit mix nicely and the creamy texture makes it go down smooth. The alcohol sneaks up on you a bit since there’s nary a hint of booziness. Creamy, mocha-like finish and a lingering roastiness in the aftertaste.
It’s as straightforward as a Baltic Porter can be, balanced the fruitiness and the roastiness well and is smooth as velvet. What’s not to like? Six years is a long time to wait between samples...but I think they have improved the recipe since then

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Light brown head on top of an almost black colored beer. Smell and taste malts, a bit sweetish in the beginning with a more bitter finish. Decent, but expected more.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
One of several dark beers I sampled at a Dominion tasting in DC. This was the least impressive. Waterier than the others with a middle of the road quality to its coffee and chocolate backbone.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Ørsted, Copenhagen
Black color, small head. Mild aroma. The maltiness comes out quite well, with light residual sweetness and light roasted malt presence; it should be less carbonated; correct bitterness; warming feeling despite the low alcohol.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from bottle at 55F. Initially a 1-2 finger tan head which rapidly disappears. Pours an inky brown. Aroma of sweet malt, chocolate, bread, and a hint onpf licorice. Taste - chocolate, coffee, sweet malt, bit of bitterness in middle, then a mildly sweet long finish with what feels like lingering carbonation at the back of the throat. This has a creamy mouthfeel. Overall the tastes are subtle and unassuming which makes it easy to drink, but I am afraid also a little forgettable.
