Draft at Kerstbierfestival 2007. An unclear orange-amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with spicy notes of cinnamon. The flavor is sweet with a light underlying acidity and notes of malt and a light touch of cinnamon.

(On tap) Caramel coloured, caramel in the nose, but...sherry in the flavours! Oh yes, this is a sherry beer indeed... Brownish head, slightly sweet and nutty, rather low in carbonation. But lovely. 180501

From tap, Kerstbierfestival 2007 in Essen/Belgium as Engel (nen). Pours hazy orange with a dense light yellow head. Mild caramel malt base with a mild brett note on top. Flavour is sweet malty with a mild lingering brett note. Very nice spice malt base. Quite nicely balanced. Ends with a nice bitterness lingering into the malt flavours.

Kerstbierfestival 2007 Holziger, stark gummiartiger Geruch. Ausgehöhlt malziger Antrunk, wässrig. Das Bier ist zwar etwas süß, ansonsten aber weiterhin nur oberflächlich malzig. Test vom 22.12.2007, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 11,7,7,6,-,7 - 7,26

JorisPPattyn (6730) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - DEC 17, 2006
Draught Very good, yellow-brown head, over dark-brown beer. Pine, resiny notes, and light-coloured wood. Dark malts appearing in the taste, a bit of dark chocolate, dark fruit, even if the beer is neither very fruity, neither very estery. Medium bodied, grist slickness. Very straightforward, basic strongish dark beer, but in itself not without merits.

On tap at Zythos, Brabanthal, Leuven, Belgium Saturday 28th April 2012 Pours murky brown in colour. Very, very sweet and with the addition of four bottles of port per barrel (so we were told by the man working the stall) this is very port heavy up front, actually throughout. Marginally better than the Grand Cru but again not one to get excited about. A6 A3 T6 P2 Ov11 2.8

(Draught@Kerstbierfestival 2007, Essen) Dark ruby with a smallish, creamy head. Yeasty, syrupy, roasted-malty aroma with a typical brewpub-oud-bruin feel. Syrupy-malty, lightly roasty flavor with low bitterness. Almost medium-bodied, low-carbonated palate. A stronger oud bruin, but not exactly a gourmet beer.

thebeertourist (4060) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 17, 2006
On tap at the Kerstbierfestival, Essen. Dark brown with a small offwhite head. Spicy aroma, full of cinnamon and sweet caramel. Sweet and spiced flavours with a medium body. A bit too sweet and overspiced.
