2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ernest (5185) - Boulder, USA - AUG 28, 2006
Bottle.
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is clear medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), with light notes of DMS and chemicals.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, slightly husky/unclean.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
As plain Russian lagers go, it’s actually pretty respectable...you can smell hops in the nose, the balance is decent, and the unpleasant aspects are not so strong as to make you cringe. Drinkable for the genre.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 3fourths (6406) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 6, 2009
500ml green bottle. Sweaty and skunky but pleasent (yes) nose of stewed grains and sweaty dried hops. Flavor is light pale malts and some witbier like coriander and wheat notes, not from any actual ingredients but a byproduct of the pale malt and yeast. Good for what it is, simple international lager thankfully not ruined by too much time in the bottle. I like.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 29, 2008
Clear light golden color with a fluffy off-white head. Some decent lacing. Big skunky aroma. Hints of grain, malt, herbs and grass as well. Light flavors from the start with chalky malt. Grain and mild wintergreen middle and finish. Finish has light minerals and again a bit of mint. Me thinkest a touch too much maltose syrup.

2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 locarboy (119) - USA - MAY 29, 2007
Aroma of a light struck green bottle euro lager. light palate with enough hops to cover the sweet flavor that mixed with a not so pleasant citrusy thing. hops were a bit grassy. Given that it was $1.80/50cl and was 5 months past its expiration date, I guess it wasn’t too bad.
2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 conor23 (110) - Elgin, Illinois, USA - JAN 25, 2007
Skunky aroma, hoppy taste with slight sweetness. Slightly bitter finish. Fairly straight forward lager, much better than the Don southern lager.
2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Kevin (1953) - Colorado, USA - JAN 11, 2007
bottle ahhh, smells like a skunk just died. it was reeking havoc on my nose before i got the bottle poured. a honey color with a rather decent lasting white head. but wow, is this rank. very thin texture. light earthy, well waterery hop flavor is detectavle with the honey sweetness. a very watery beer. a lingering sweetness. surprisingly less bad than anticipated.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 frankenkitty (1958) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - DEC 29, 2006
Pale golden with a foamy white head that left behind a little lace. Green-bottle skunkiness opens up to German noble hops and a hit of corn syrup. Flavor approaches the persona of a malt liquor with sweet corn syrup atop low gasohol notes. Not too bad. Finishes with a hint of bitterness.
