ElGaucho (1721), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Dec 17, 2003 Faint, sweet lager aroma. Pale Gold in color with a mostly diminishing white head. Slightly hazy body with lots of visible carbonation. Excellent whispy lace. Sweet lager flavor. Under carbonated. A little too sweet but a pleasant flavor. Boystout (824), Chisinau, Moldova Aug 21, 2003 Fairly standard malt-accented golden lager from Southern Russia. Slightly sweetish and fruity, some tartness in the finish. UNHOPPY. Cornfield (4344), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Dec 10, 2006 As with many Eastern European lagers that I’ve had, the aroma of this yellow brew begins on a slightly skunked note. In this case, that soon fades to be replaced by a slightly grainy, sweet malt and a light herbal, grassy hop bitterness. This is fairly soft in the mouth. It tastes of sweet malts, a teaspoon of minerals, and a very light hop bitterness. Actually, not too bad of a brew from "the Other Baltika." Experienced at the 12/9/2006 Chicago RateBeerian Gathering thanks to my esteemed The LoSBD colleague frankenkitty.
