Draught at Bikkuri Donkey in Kyoto. This is made by Otaru for these hamburger chains and only served there, as far as I know. Deep golden to amber color with a nice tall head. Malty, sweet, cookie aroma with slight diacetyl. Clean, rich, fruity flavor with biscuits and a good bitter finish. A bit buttery/creamy. Very good beer, with great hops.

Quite a pleasant surprise. Available at Bikkuri Donkey hamburger steak restaurants around Japan. When it arrived at my table, I knew something was up, because it had a nice rocky, foamy head on it, very different from the usual overly creamy artificial heads on other beers. Aroma indicated nice fruity hoppiness. Strong grapefruit and what tasted like Saaz hops to give the beer a nice, refreshing but not overbearing hoppiness. I’d never given this place a chance in the four years I’ve been here, it was a pleasant surprise, and I’ll be back again.

What a surprise! This stuff is served at a hamburger steak chain restaurant. Great aroma of biscuits, flavor of sweet malts balanced with nice hop bitterness. Probably the cheapest pint of ji-beer in Japan!!
