Cask at Red Lion, Little Compton, Oxfordshire, where there is a lovely cottage garden in which to enjoy your beer. Beautiful mid amber colour with a small head. Rich, malty aroma. Sweet malt and hoppy taste with a thinnish body and a medium bitter finish.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2010 Cask-conditioned at the Black Horse, Naunton, Gloucs 9/9/07. A vivid amber colour with a moderate off-white head that left a lot of lacing down the glass. Pronounced malty aroma without being cloying. Easy drinking with a hint of toffee followed by a decent bitter finish. This offered a huge amount for a 3.6% bitter - probably the best sub-4% ABV beer I have experienced [4.3]. Re-rate: The Royal Oak, Andoversford, Gloucestershire. I have read on many occasions that Donnington beers are highly variable, and this was the proof. The BB on this occasion was a standard bitter, inclining towards the malty and with a bitter finish. It still looked good but was nothing like as memorable as at Naunton. [3.1]

Cask Conditioned at The Fox, Gt. Barrington, Oxon. Amber to gold beer with white whispy head. Smooth malty, biscuit body with a little plum, moving through to a floral but rounded hoppy bitter finish. All you could want from a best bitter.

A nice cask ale from the Cotswolds. Very smooth, very drinkable. With only 3.7% alcohol, I could drink this all day.

Cask at the Fox Inn, Great Barrington, Glos’ 02-09-06. Classic english bitter served in a lovely pub and beautiful village, pours amber coloured was nice and malty and just the right level of bitterness, my only criticism was that it was a tad on the warm side otherwise a very good beer.

Cask at GBBF 08. Slightly cloudy amber with a weak aroma and poor flavour. Unfortunately, just another average UK bitter.

Cask@Rugby Beer Festival, 2006. Dark amber beer with a very weak and watery aroma and a plain and lightly dry flavour with a hint of caramel. Overall a plain beer.
