375 ml @ Antwaerps Bierhuiske. Traditional green bottle / lovely design in tune with their other standard offerings. Pours a dark red hued amber with a quickly diminishing white head / only a patchy film remains. Smell is full of other grains, their profile, spelt, rye, full grain bread, spices and caramel sweetness,… Taste is sweet other grainsm rye, spelt, lots of spices, alcohol, marinated dark fruits, grains, malts, touch boozy, caramel and some hops,… Rather full, lively carb. I am digging this much like their standard line-up.

12.7 oz Bottle, best before C 2 12, which I think means 2007, purchased at Kingstown Liquors - North Kingstown, RI. This bottle is just as old as the bottle of blond that I just had, but for some reason it’s about half as exciting. It lacks the zingy, golden punch of the blond, the light tartness, the warmth, the spring sunshine. The amber malts just dampen the effect and make this feel like old early spring Bock.

375 ml bottle shared with czar. Thanks, mate! Pours an opaque orangeish amber with a resilient white head. Smell is old, dusty, red berries. Flavor is fruity, raspberries, fieldberries, caramel. Finish is yeast, good bitterness, perceptible tartness. Light to medium body, average carbonation. Very solid.

corked. pours hazy, almost murky, dark golden, with a nice off-white head, decent retention and lacing. fruitiness and caramel, light acidity and barnyard notes, some sweetness. light but present fresh leafiness, strawberry-like and citrusy hopping. lively and soft carbonation, light body. rustic, nice and enjoyable but not that refreshing.

A steady pour into my Bruery tulip produces a fat, two-finger thick, lightly tan colored head. The beer is a concentrated, but bright, amber color that shows a clear, bright amber depth when held up to the light. The aroma smells of lightly spicy hops, lots of cracker like malt, and perhaps a touch of English biscuits. There is a light cider like fruitiness to the nose, which gets a little floral like at times.
Dry up front, but it picks up a little sweetness in the middle and finish, which brings out a cider like note. Soft, caramelized malt notes, a touch of straw like pale wheat cracker notes, perhaps hint of hop herb / spice character in the finish, but sort of a metallic note is there as well. The body is fairly light, and this is definitely effervescent.
Cider is definitely the dominant characteristic here in both the flavor and nose; not bad, but fairly lackluster.
