Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance had a nice looking bronzed amber color to it. It had a one finger white foamy head that died at a moderate pace. There was just a bit of thin sliding lacing. The smell had a delicately sweet malty base with a fairly deep rustic earthiness to it. The taste was sweet and earthy with a decent rustic backup to it. I did get some sweet apples and pears in this one. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a decent sessionability about this. The carbonation was fairly smooth. Overall, I say this was a pretty good saison worthy of having again.

Aroma of sweet malt, ripe fruits, some apples, yeast, some spices. Flavour is medium malty sweetness. Carbonation is on the high side, finish is dry. Interesting, not your typical Saison.

500 cl cc from Whole Foods PM. Hazy orange pour with fluffy, off-white head. Heavy cork pop. Nose is cobwebby malt, hopcitrus, tannins. Tastes malty, vibrant, with hops, and a british bitter quality plus some old aley yeast.

Decent Amber beer. It feels, smells and looks like a amber. Nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary. A shame.

Amber coloured beer, slightly hazy, with fluffy white head. Aroma keynote is farmhouse funk, some caramel, banana, slight grease tones, some leather. Flavour is sweet caramel, malts, cake, rather bitter though, some banana, young apple cider, mild white pepper. Finish is quite dry and bitter. Quite nice but in need of a bit more balance. (from 37,5cL bottle)

375ml bottle from Willems Grobbendonk. Red brown colored beer. Aroma of caramel malts and fruits. Caramel in the mouth as sweel, malty sweet well balanced with the hops. Hints of spices and dark fruit.

Opened agressively with a loud pop, but not even a hint of gushing. Had a sharp aroma as it was poured, the cork even smelt white-winey. Poured carefully, mostly clear, and with a large tight creamy self-supporting head. In the glass itís a classic belgian ale aroma - it smells how a cold delirium tremens tastes. Quite crisp in the mouth, the carbonationís quite lively. Thereís almost a wateriness to it, it certainly doesnít feel 7.5% at all. Fairly curious blend of tastes, it has the classic pale belgian malts, but also has dutch biting hopping, and a french saison yeasty feel. Thereís quite a dryness to it, almost earthy (but as I said I poured it as clear as I could). Some almonds in the retronasals later. Finish is again yeasty and earthy, and with a huge bite of noble hops. I canít put my finger on it, but thereís something about this that doesnít quite work for me, even though no individual component has any particular flaw - all its features I like in some contexts. But together, itís less than the sum of its parts.
