Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, light brown, fully lasting. Body is medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder, toasted grain/bread, husks, caramel), with notes of dish rag, dirt, walnuts, lemon juice, bubble gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Nice head retention and mouthfeel, but it’s a strange mix of odors and the aftertaste isn’t particularly clean. Hard to imagine how the Stillwater Bronze Age ended up being so good, because this and the Blond are very disappointing in comparison.

Murky brown and small grey beige head. Dusty, dry wood, dark malts, very mild hop and classic appeal. Also old fashioned though, unfortunately. Light bitter, without much character. Fancy bottle is really overdoing it. Nothing special. (375ml bottle from Dranken Geers)

Bottle in Aspen picked up at Wilbur’s Foco. Pours a deep brown appearance with a brown head. Nutty, toasted malty, light chocolate, caramel, a bit earthy aroma. High carbonation. Somewhat acidic, cocoa, caramel, a bit fruity, slightly sweet flavor. Not bad but not as the blonde.

Bottle. Pours a murky brown with fine tan head, settles quickly with no lacing. Aroma is sweet, strong fruitiness, grape, plum, mild alcohol. Flavor is sweet, plum, grape, fruity up front fading into a mild malt finish. Sweet and fruity but not particularly unique or memorable. Soft carbonation, medium body, smooth texture. A decent belgian ale.

Bottle. Dark brown with ruby tints and a thick off white head. Aroma is fruity and nutty. Taste is an awesome chocolate and coffee combo but without much depth outside of that. Mouthfeel is pretty average with a strong carb. This one is tasty but a little weird.

Draft at Monks. Hazy brown pour. Pretty much just a classic brown ale. Malty grains. Sweet, but not overly so (not like Newcastle). Light nut flavors as well. Not bad for what it is. Unpretentious.

Aroma is non-descript malts and low nuttiness and sweetness. The flavor is malts, mild toffee, fruit and a long and increasingly sour/tart finish.

Taste this @ home end of nov. 2011 from 37,5 cl bottle. Dark amber to brown color with a beige foamy head. Aroma yeast, mild sweet, bit roasted malts, touch of berries, and nuts. Medium body. Taste light roasted malts, sweet-bitter, notes of raisins and chocolate; caramel. Good.
