COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dos Equis Amber is a rich, full-bodied Mexican import with a reddish-gold color and is made from the finest ingredients, representing the brand’s traditional Mexican heritage. The history of Dos Equis Amber is traced to the development of the popular Oktoberfest-style of Vienna lager originally created during the mid-19th century.

After the beer was served in the glass there was found a lasting quantity wall adhesive white foam collar which was fine and even of structure. The beer also contained much carbonic acid in the glass. The beer has a clear amber color and a watery taste. The after tast of the beer is light hoppy bitter with a light roasted malty touch . This beer smells to malty.

Where does the "dark" moniker come from? Surely not the flavor. If we’re getting a brown hue, it has to be from an exorbitant amount of food coloring, right? Because this beer is like 2% malt and 98% water and anger. No reason for anyone to drink this, unless their other option is O’Douls. What is this, carbonated tap water? Ugh.

Dark amberish pour with almost no head. Not much aroma beyond some caramel malt and grain. Same holds true for the taste. Body... this is from Mexico... Not a bad beer if the options are really limited, say, from a convenience store or restaurant, and it is far better than most Mexican beers, but there’s really nothing special about this.

I have yet to find a widely available Mexican beer I enjoy. This one has more character than its competitors (including the lighter colored Dos Equis). Tastes better than it smells. Not bad but not very memorable either.

12 oz bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear amber colour with modest-sized slightly off-white head. Skunky aroma of stale grains/corn. Taste is slightly better with corn, apple, grains and a hint of caramel. On the thin side. Smells pretty gross but otherwise just mediocre.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2011 Better than its pale sibling, a little more of a bitter character, but nothing that will linger in your mouth for any appreciable length of time. Overall it is rather bland and the body is weak, but it is better than the more famous lager that shares its brand. Also better than negra modelo.

Poured from bottle into a beer mug. Appearance is a cloudy amber with no head and little lacing. Aroma is sweet adjuncty malts. Slightly caramelly. Taste is sweet malts. Not a whole lot going on here, but nothing offensive.

For a Mass produced Mexican Beer, this is not bad, armoa of faint caramel, and cereal. Medimum copper color, with thin almost non-existent white head, with light lacing. Slightly malty taste, thin mouthfeel and a little under carbonated. Mediocre beer, but condiering that I was at a Mexican Resturant, this was the best of a bad lot.
