COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dos Equis Amber is a rich, full-bodied Mexican import with a reddish-gold color and is made from the finest ingredients, representing the brand’s traditional Mexican heritage. The history of Dos Equis Amber is traced to the development of the popular Oktoberfest-style of Vienna lager originally created during the mid-19th century.

Clear amber pour with off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Smooth and sweet tasting. Not bad with Mexican food, but I don’t care for it alone. I tried several Mexican beers for Cinco de Mayo and found this one to be near the top. I bought a 12-pack and had to give a few away.

Tasted 7/13/10. Draft from Chevy’s. Filtered with a honey amber hue. Lively body with a finger width of quickly dissipating bone white head. Mild caramel and cereal grainy nose. Medium bodied and toasty. Mildly grainy. Tight tingling effervescence. Not too much to it, in terms of complexity, but better and fuller than most Mexican brews. Probably second favorite Mexican behind Negra Modelo.

Had this after a very hot day while waiting for a plate of Mexican food. Best Mexican beer I’ve had so far I think.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2010 Bottle in Peurto Vallarta while on shore from cruise. Aroma of malt and cereal with vague caramel flavoring. Has a smooth, balanced finish. Typical amber lager, nothing special here.

bottle in a mexican restaurant in Edinburgh, amber coloured, industrial smell. Just like the taste: industrial, sweet, yeasty and malty.

It’s doable with a lime, but it just tastes chemically and weird. Not bad but definitely not good either.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2010 Strong malty and fruity aroma. Dark brown copper with small head. Taste is very fruity, mild roastiness maybe looking for a little more depth, but unique IMO. Palate is a light. Malt lingers. Overall I was impressed. I didnt even bother trying this for years thinking it was just another crappy mexican beer but was pleasantly surprised. Very drinkable fruity Vienna Lager. This beer would have higher ratings if it was in a German bottle.

The commercials for this beer are very entertaining. However, the beer itself leaves an unsettling feeling in the stomach afterward and the taste is cheap.
