Dos Equis Special Lager is a refreshing, crisp, golden, lager style beer imported from Mexico. Made with roasted malts, choice hops, a unique strain of yeast and purified water, this distinctive brew is known simply as “Lager” in its homeland.

A golden beer with no head. It has next to no aroma and the flavor is boring sweet malty.

Bottled. Golden colour. Fruity, strangely champagnelike nose. Light bodied, but not as thin as many other mexicans. Rather sweet and just a hint of bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a fast disappearing white head. Sweetish malty corn aroma. Sweet malty flavor with some grainy hints and also hints of honey. Malty finish with no bitterness.

Pale blond color. Too watery, simple, even without a pleasant bitterness. Useless.

On tap. A clear golden beer served with more or less no head, just a few white bubbles. The aroma is pretty standard pale lager, uninteresting, with a hint of yellow apples and pears, some faint grass and hay scents and a touch of pale malts. The flavor is much the same boring stuff, not much bitterness either, fairly enough to keep it from getting sweet, even though it’s quite dry. Soft carbonation, but perhaps a bit too much. Short finish, which is just as good. A very uninteresting one, but I guess it slides down easily in the Mexican heat. Don’t think I’ll have this again. 130903
