2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, 0.33l. Clear pale golden color with medium frothy white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma is grainy, bready, grassy and a bit skunky. Taste starts moderate sweet malty, follows by grassy sourness with crisp and dry mouthfeel and mild bitter finish. Light body, thin texture and lively carbonation in palate. Typical pale lager, a bit on a sweeter side...

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a clear straw with coarse carbonation and topped by a finger or so of off-white fizzy head showing minimal retention. The nose is grainy and grassy with a little more kick than the Tecate, another Mexican pale lager. The taste is more malty with a more perceptible grainy features backed by subtle grassy hops. Finish is smooth but a bit skunky. Cheers!

Pours straw yellow with a bit of foam and very little aroma. Has a bit of a skunky taste mixed with caramel. It’s nothing special nor memorable.

Dos Equis Special Lager is a refreshing, crisp, golden, lager style beer imported from Mexico. Made with roasted malts, choice hops, a unique strain of yeast and purified water, this distinctive brew is known simply as “Lager” in its homeland.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Dos Equis Lager Especial is not very special. Like so many mass produced lagers, it suffers from a cheap choice of ingredients and low hop bitterness and character. As a result, the foam dissipates quickly. The color is clear golden and the aroma is very neutral. The taste is also very neutral with a corny aftertaste which comes from the use of high fructose corn syrup. This reminds me of Miller High Life. Not bad, but a bit pricey for a generic lager. Mexico makes some very nice beers, but this is not one of them.
